The Sims 4 Master Chef Aspiration
You always have to feed your sims and with the sims 4 master chef aspiration at least they’ll make yummy food!
This aspiration gives your sims one of my favourite reward traits, letting them cook food that never spoils!
Essence of Flavour Bonus Trait
When a sim starts their life with a food aspiration they are going to get the essence of flavour bonus trait. This trait’s description says “Sims with essence of flavour make higher quality food and drink.”
Essence of flavour is a great bonus trait for this aspiration because you need to create excellent quality food to finish it! With this trait you’ll have a higher chance of getting better quality dishes.
Best Traits for The Sims 4 Master Chef Aspiration
When you pick an aspiration for your sim you should always consider their traits. There’s a few good traits to add to a sim for this aspiration:
- Creative: The ideal mood for gaining the cooking skill is inspired, and creative sims get inspired more often.
- Foodie: Foodie sims love eating and will get powerful moodlets when they eat delicious food!
- Outgoing: Part of this aspiration is making food at events like dinner parties, so your sims will need friends to do this so outgoing can help with that.
- Essence of Flavour: This is the bonus trait you get when your sim starts with a food aspiration. The trait makes it more likely your sim will make higher quality food.
There are also some really incredible lot traits you can add to your sim’s home to make it easier to finish this aspiration:
- Homey: Homes that have this trait give sims a boost to both the cooking and gourmet cooking skill, as well as baking, mixology gardening, and handiness.
- Chef’s Kitchen: This trait comes with The Sims 4: City Living and gives a boost to both cooking and gourmet cooking and can give inspired moodlets to your sims too.
- Simple Living: This trait comes with The Sims 4: Cottage Living and makes it so your sim has to have the right ingredients to make a dish. The thing is, when they have the ingredients the quality of the items can be better and it adds a fun challenge!
Stages of the Aspiration
There are four stages of the sims 4 master chef aspiration that you’ll need to work through with your sims. You’ll be focusing on cooking delicious meals with both the cooking and gourmet cooking skills, plus you’ll throw a couple fun social events!
Stage One: Aluminum Chef
The first thing you need to do for this aspiration is cook 5 excellent quality meals. Everything your sim makes in the game has a quality ranking that has a few aspects that can impact it. Some things that are important for creating high quality meals include:
- Your sim’s mood when cooking (ideally inspired)
- Your sim’s level of the cooking skill
- Your sim’s traits
- Your sim’s needs when cooking
To create excellent quality meals you’ll first want to take care of your sim’s needs. Make sure they are fed, happy, and had a good night sleep. Then, take a thoughtful shower to get them inspired!
Your sim is more likely to create higher quality meals when their cooking skill is higher (or gourmet cooking if that’s the meal type you’re cooking) so keep gaining the skill by cooking or reading skill books.
The best trait your sims can have is the essence of flavour trait because it’ll help you make higher quality food!
Just follow these and you’ll make excellent quality dishes in no time.
- Cook 2 Meals While Inspired
Cooking while inspired is so smart because your sims will gain the cooking and gourmet cooking skills faster when inspired. To finish this task you just need to cook meals when your sim is feeling inspired. Getting inspired is easy, you can get your sim to take a thoughtful shower and they will get a 4 hour inspired moodlet!
Once you do that you just head to the kitchen and cook two meals back to back to satisfy this need.
Stage Two: Captain Cook
Achieving level 5 of the cooking skill is easy, just keep cooking meals and you’ll reach this in no time. You can also read cooking skill books to gain the skill or get a sim with a high cooking skill to mentor your sim to have them gain the skill quicker.
Pro Tip: Add the Homey lot trait to your home (available in the base game for everyone) to gain the skill quicker!
When your sim reaches level 5 of the regular cooking skill they are going to unlock the gourmet cooking skill which opens up a whole new world of recipes for them to make. To satisfy this need you’ll just need to cook a single gourmet meal!
- Earn Silver at a Dinner Party Event
Anyone who is a good cook should be hosting dinner parties for their friends, duh!
For this you’ll want to throw a dinner party event from your sim’s phone. You’ll go to the social menu and then plan a social event then choose a dinner party.
You’ll get to choose your sim as the host, then choose guests and location.
Earning silver is easy! You’ll see a menu appear in the top left corner when the event is happening with a bunch of tasks to complete that update as you finish them.
To get silver you just need to make your sim do these tasks including things like:
- Getting Sims to Drink
- Getting Sims to Eat
- Getting Sims to Dance
- Chatting With Sims
- Thanking Guests for Coming
These tasks are easy, and getting silver is so easy! You’ll probably even get gold, which will also satisfy this.
Stage Three: Culinary Artist
- Become an Adult
This is probably the easiest thing you’ll do in this aspiration, all you need to do is age up from a teenager to a young adult or start your life from create-a-sim as an adult!
- Reach Level 4 in The Culinary Career
Part of this aspiration is joining the culinary career and working your way through it. This career is focused on both cooking and the mixology skill until you choose a branch later on.
To get through these career levels you’ll need to grow your cooking skills and cook meals each day. To not waste money on food no one will eat, I like to make individual meals instead of group meals when I need to for the career!
- Create 3 Types of Excellent Food
This part is just like the cook 5 excellent meals part of the first stage of this aspiration. This part just wants you to make 3 different meals. In the first section your sim could just make 5 excellent grilled cheese sandwiches back to back, this just requires you to make 3 different meals.
Like we talked about before, here’s some things to do to have a higher chance of excellent food:
- Have the essence of flavour bonus trait
- Keep your sim’s needs high
- Make your sim feel inspired
- Have a high level of the cooking skill
Stage Four: Master Chef
When a sim reaches level 5 of the regular cooking skill they’ll unlock the ability to gain the gourmet cooking skill. This works just like the regular cooking skill but has fancier meals to cook than regular cooking.
To gain this skill you can read gourmet cooking skill books that you can purchase on a bookcase. You can also click on the fridge and choose cook a gourmet meal to gain the skill actively!
- Reach Level 8 of the Culinary Career
Next up you’ll need to get to level 8 of the culinary career, this just requires your sim to keep going to work and working hard. Your sims will need to make food each day, usually 3 meals will satisfy this part. You’ll also need to gain the cooking and mixology skill to move ahead in the career.
You can change how your sim is working by clicking on them when they are at work, working hard will increase their work performance faster!
At level 6 your sim will be able to choose if they want to be a chef or a mixologist, obviously a sim with the master chef aspiration would want to join the chef branch!
- Cook 3 Gourmet Dishes at a Single Event
We’ve already had you need to earn silver at a dinner party, so you’re no stranger to hosting events. In this requirement you don’t even need to medal at your event, you just need to throw a party of any kind and cook 3 individual pieces of food under the gourmet cooking category before the event ends!
Fresh Chef Reward Trait
When you finish the sims 4 master chef aspiration you get one of the best reward traits in the game, fresh chef! This reward trait’s description reads “Fresh chefs always make the highest quality food and it never spoils.”
Whenever I get this reward trait I have my sims make so many means and put them in the fridge. They NEVER spoil meaning you can bulk cook and have your sims eating from these meals for literal generations!
When you hover over food a fresh chef makes, there will be no line item for spoiling and you can even just leave it on the counter forever.
