How to Write a Good Archaeology Skill Book in The Sims 4
The ability to write this skill book is unlocked at level 8 of the archaeology skill, so you’ll first need to get there. You can gain that skill in a bunch of ways including reading skill books, excavating dig sites and authenticating artifacts.
Once your sim hits level 8 of this skill you can click on a computer and go write > write skill book > guidebook to archaeology and your sim will start writing this.
They’ll work on it for a decent amount of time and you can cancel the interaction at any time. If you stop before the book is done you can click on the computer again and resume the book instead of starting a new one.
When the book is done you’ll find it in your sim’s inventory! You can hover over this book to see the quality of the book. If you’re working through the archaeology scholar aspiration you’ll need to write a good quality book, so you need to try again if its poor or normal quality.
To get a book to be a higher quality you can do a few things! The first thing is make sure that your sim has a decent level of the writing skill. Obviously, a sim with higher writing will create higher quality books.
You should also make sure that your sim is feeling inspired because that’s the ideal mood for writing!
Just having a high level of the writing skill and being inspired should get you a good or higher quality book. You can also add the creative visionary reward store trait to make it more likely for your sim to create high quality items.
Publishing Your Archaeology Book
Once your book is done you have a few options, you can decide to keep the book and have other sims read it to gain the archaeology skill in the future. Wouldn’t it be fun to have your sim’s grandchild read this book in the future?
If you want money instead you have the option to publish your book so you can earn royalties. To do this you need to finish your book then click on the mailbox and you’ll initially only have the option to self-publish, but at level 5 of the writing skill you can sell to publisher which will get you more royalties.
When you publish a book you’ll get paid each day at 10 AM when you get a royalty report notification that lists of anything you have written or licensed including songs you license or videos you make with Get Famous.
Licensing these books is such an easy way to make a bit of extra cash on the side!
