The Sims 4 Thinking Skill Guide
The sims 4 thinking skill is arguably the most important for toddlers to learn. Why?
Well, as a toddler improves their thinking skill they are going to sleep better and be less defiant which can make them so much easier to care for.
This is why it’s so important that you know how to gain (or cheat) this incredible toddler skill!
How to Learn The Sims 4 Thinking Skill
There are a few ways that you can have your toddler learn this skill. The best way is to get an adult to teach them by choosing friendly > activities > flash cards and doing teach basic needs that is under the thinking skill.

The next way you can gain the thinking skill is by using the Wabbit Tablet that you can purchase from the build catalog. You’ll click on the tablet while controlling your sim and choose play sim shape to gain the thinking skill.

At thinking level 2 your sim is able to start using the Tiny Teacher Nesting Blocks to learn the thinking skill.

If you want your sim to learn the skill quicker with blocks you can have an older sim teach your toddler shapes with the blocks too! As you reach level four you’ll see the option change to teaching letters with the blocks.

At level three your teach basics needs flash cards change to teach numbers and will help the sim gain the skill quickly.

Levels of the Sims 4 Thinking Skill
There are five levels of the thinking skill for toddlers which is great because this life stage is too short for ten levels! Here is what each level of the skill unlocks for your toddlers.
Level | Level Unlock |
---|---|
Level 1 | Toddlers are able to use the Wabbit Tablet to gain the skill and be taught flash cards by an old sim. |
Level 2 | Toddlers can now Study Shapes on the Nesting Blocks. They will also defy less often. |
Level 3 | Toddlers can now learn numbers from Flash Cards with adults. They will also sleep better through the night. |
Level 4 | Toddlers can now Ask Why to other sims. They also learn to stop splashing in the toilet. |
Level 5 | Toddler has fully developed their thinking skill. They sleep through the night and never defies. They can now learn letters from flash cards and practice spelling with nesting blocks. |
Benefits of the Thinking Skill
There are so many benefits to the thinking skill because it essentially makes your toddler more mature and less annoying.
When a toddler reaches level two of this skill they’ll start being less defiant which can be helpful in trying to get them to do things like going to sleep or eating.
When a toddler reaches level three of this skill they’ll start sleeping better through the night. This means less nightmares and an easier time getting to sleep which is amazing.
How to Cheat the Sims 4 Thinking Skill
Thankfully when toddlers were added to the game we were given cheats to make them easier to deal with. These skill cheats are must-knows for me because I love giving my sims a leg up in life and sometimes I’m too lazy to do it myself.
The cheat you need to know is stats.set_skill_level skill_toddler_thinking 5 to max out the thinking skill.
If you’d rather have a different level of the skill you can just change that 5 at the end to whatever level from 1-5 that you’d like your toddler to have.
Age Age Up Skill Bonus
There are so many little secrets in The Sims 4 that you may not know, just like age up still bonuses. My favourite thing about working on toddler and child skills is that they can give you a jump start on skills when your sim ages up.
If you get a toddlers skill to level 3 they will start with an almost full level 1 bar, which is pretty much just two levels.

If you max out a skill your sim will get level 2 of the skill but it’s filled to 94% so you’re practically at level 3.
The thinking skill is tied to the mental skill for children. This means if you max the thinking skill you’ll start at almost three levels of mental.
