This allows your sims to learn to sign and perform their songs for others to enjoy!

The singing skill is a great one for having fun with your sims and they can do singing as a hobby!
They can also write and license their own song lyrics and get royalty payments from these lyrics each morning at 10 AM for a little side income.

How to Gain The Sims 4 Singing Skill
There are a few ways you can gain the singing skill in the game. The first way is to purchase a microphone from the buy menu and click on it and choose practice singing and your sim will practice until you tell them to stop.
You can also click on your sim and choose practice singing when clicking on them.
At level two of the skill you can choose to sing in shower which can give your sims inspired moodlets as well as gain the skill for the duration of the shower!
Your sims are also able to gain the skill by singing solo or duets on the karaoke machine that you can purchase for your lot or head over to the Waterside Warble Karaoke Bar in San Myshuno.
Ideal Mood for Singing
The emotions your sims have actually matter and there is an ideal mood for every skill. For singing you’ll want your sims to be feeling inspired whenever possible!
There are a few great ways you can make your sims feel inspired but the easiest way is just to get your sims to take a thoughtful shower. Your sims can also gain an inspired moodlet by singing in the shower which unlocks at level 2!
Best Traits to Gain The Singing Skill
The traits you give your sims can impact their mood and their mood can impact their skill gains, so these traits are great for sims who want to gaining the singing skill:
- Creative: Creative sims will get a random inspired moodlet almost every day which you can use to gain the singing skill more quickly.
- Cheerful: Cheerful is just a great trait to give sims because they’ll get happy moodlets that can stack with inspired
- Muser: If you choose a creative aspiration for your sim you will get the muser trait which boosts skills gains when your sim is feeling inspired.
You can also add lot traits to your sim’s lot that can have an impact on them and these two can help with singing:
- Sunny Aspect: The sunny aspect trait gives sims an evening-time moodlet and that is either happy, energized or inspired so you can take advantage of that inspired moodlet.
- Great Acoustics: This lot trait is going to give a skill gain bonus to sims practicing dancing, DJ Mixing and all instruments too!
How to Cheat The Singing Skill
I’m obsessed with every cheat for The Sims 4 because they make my life easier when I want my sims to do things but can’t because of skills. The singing cheat can make your sims so good at it without effort!
The cheat code you need to know is stats.set_skill_level major_singing 10 to max the skill. Want a different level of the skill? You just change the 10 to a different level of the skill from 1-9.
Levels of the Sims 4 Singing Skill
There are ten levels of the singing skill for you to enjoy. As you gain the skill you’ll see different things unlock and get new interactions with the skill.

They are able to sing folk songs and can rave about favourite singers. They can also now sing in the shower! |
| Level 3 | Sims can now sing country songs and duet jazz songs on the karaoke machine and can sing pop songs via the piano, guitar or microphone. They can also serenade other sims. |
| Level 4 | Sims can now sing disco songs and duet ballad songs on the karaoke machine. |
| Level 5 | Sims can now sing jazz songs via the piano, guitar or microphone. They can also mentor other sims in singing. |

Mentoring The Sims 4 Singing Skill
If you want your sim to gain the skill more quickly and someone they know has a high singing skill they can click on the microphone and ask another sim for singing mentoring.
This is going to help them gain the skill faster than normal which can be a game-changer.
At level five of the skill your sims are able to start mentoring other sims. What does this do? Glad you asked. Well, mentoring other sims will gain the skill more quickly for other sims.
If you have The Sims 4: Business and Hobbies you can even mentor for money. A sim with level 10 of the skill can get 430 simoleons per hour of mentoring.
Licensing Songs for Money
At level eight of the skill your sims are able to start writing their own lyrics and they can write as many as they want. There are four options for song types including:
- A Groovy Jazz Ballad
- Some Smooth Jazz
- A Mournful Lament
- An Epic Ballad
They have the opportunity to license these songs at level 9 of the skill by clicking on the completed song in their inventory or by clicking on their mailbox.
When you license songs or publish books in the game you’ll get a daily royalty payment each morning at 10 AM! The amount of money you receive is determined by the quality of the item you license.
You can increase the quality by making sure your sim is in a good mood when writing it and they have a high level of the singing skill.
Unfortunately you can only license one song per week so this isn’t a huge money maker.
Singing for Tips
Your sims can earn an income when they are singing songs (not practicing singing though) by getting tips from people who are around.
You can make this happen by bringing a microphone in your sim’s inventory and drag it out from your inventory to anywhere on the lot and while you play sims will come up and give you tips. I found at level 10 of the skill every tip I got was for twenty simoleons.
Mixing Singing With Piano and Guitar
When your sim reaches level 3 of the guitar skill or the piano skill they are able to mix these two together. Your sims will be able to write lyrics and sing songs by clicking on the guitar or the piano!
