How to Gain The Sims 4 Romance Skill
The main way to gain the romance skill is to do romance interactions. Pretty much anything under the romance menu will do this for your sims, which is awesome because it makes the skill easy to gain.
Another way your sims are able to gain the skill is by clicking on a computer and going to web > research > research romance tips. When you do this you can even get notifications letting you know important stuff!
With this interaction my sim learned about the ability to earn the romantic sage trait which she has the possibility to develop!
If you want your sims to gain the sims 4 romance skill without as much effort on your part you can try skill books instead. There are three books for your sims to purchase and read:
- Romance Vol 1: From Flirtation Disaster to Romance Master
- Romance Vol 2: Perfecting Your Romance Style
- Romance Vol 3: The Pinnacle of Romance
To gain skills with books you can read the first volume until level 4 of the skill. Then, you’ll read volume 2 until level 7 and level 3 until level 10!
Ideal Mood for Romance
Each skill in The Sims 4 has a mood tied to it that will help your sim gain the skill faster. Of course, the ideal mood to gain the sims 4 romance skill is flirty!
Your sims can easily feel flirty by taking a steamy shower or freshening up at a mirror.
Best Traits for Gaining The Sims 4 Romance Skill
When creating a sim who you want to have a high romance skill, you should consider the traits you give them. Here’s some good options:
- Romantic: A sim with the romantic trait will get random flirty moodlets from time to time
- Cheerful: Cheerful is just great for most skill gains because these sims tend to be happier!
- Alluring: Sims get this trait if they start with a romantic aspiration, these sims have higher success rates with romantic interactions.
You also should consider the lot traits on your sim’s household that can effect skills:
- Romantic Aura: This comes with The Sims 4: City Living and it will boost the effect of romantic social interactions.
- Study Spot: This comes with The Sims 4: Discover University and gives boosts to all skill gains.
- Singles Hangout: This comes with The Sims 4: Lovestruck and will have lots of single sims hanging out around your lot.
How to Cheat The Romance Skill
Cheating skills is smart so let’s do it together. Cheating the sims 4 romance skill is easy, you just need to know stats.set_skill_level major_romance 10 to max the skill.
Want a different level of the skill? Just change the 10 at the end of the cheat to a number between 1 and 9.
Levels of The Sims 4 Romance Skill
There are ten wonderful levels of the romance skill for your sims to gain. As they improve their romantic abilities they’ll get new unlocks and fun interactions to try out.

Improving The Skill With DLC
There are fun gameplay additions added with DLC when you have different packs in your game, and even the romance skill is effected by other packs!
Discover University
If you have The Sims 4: Discover University installed installed in your game your sim is able to take a romance skill class. This class will cost your sim ยง250 and will take them a few hours and they’ll leave with slightly more of this skill than before!
To take these classes you can choose to take a skill class on your sim’s phone. You can also go on campus and find the building where they happen and do it from there.
