The Sims 4 Purveyor of Potions Aspiration
There is so much fun to be had with magic and the Sims 4 Purveyor of Potions Aspiration is a great option.
This aspiration from The Sims 4: Realm of Magic is super fun and lets your sim create powerful potions with magic.
Collector Bonus Trait
When you give your sim any of the nature aspirations like this one (or the freelance botanist aspiration) your sim will get the collector bonus trait.

This trait isn’t super helpful with this specific aspiration but is fun because you can find more rare stuff easier.
Best Traits for The Sims 4 Purveyor of Potions Aspiration
Usually there are tons of traits that you can give a sim to help with an aspiration but there aren’t any good ones for this aspiration. One that you can give your sim is outgoing because they’ll need to become friends with a sage for them to be turned into a spellcaster themselves.
You may also want to make them have the loves the outdoors trait if you want to grow your own garden and find your own potion ingredients outdoors.
Stages of the Aspiration
There are four stages of sims 4 purveyor or potions aspiration to play through. Each stage has different tasks that you will complete so you can move on and when you do you’ll get satisfaction points that you can spend in the reward store!
Stage One: First Steps

To do this aspiration your sim will need to become a spellcaster, to do this you can either create a spellcaster in create-a-sim or become one. To turn your sim into a spellcaster you need to head to The Magic Realm and become friendly with one of the sages. You’ll know they are sages because they have a special icon above their head.

Once you’re friendly enough with them you’ll want to use the ask how to use magic interaction. If you have enough of a relationship the sage will send you on a mission to go find magical motes around the Magic Realm HQ.

You’ll see these as special purple and pink orbs around the building and you’ll click on them and choose collect mote. Then once you have seven of them you’ll choose turn in motes when you click on a sage.

At this time the sage will turn your sim into a spellcaster and you will satisfy this requirement!

Travelling to the magic realm is great because there’s so much to explore. To do this you’ll head to Glimmerbrook and look for the magic realm portal.

When you find it (top left corner of the world) you’ll click on it and choose to travel to the magic realm. An activity card will pop up and you’ll choose enter the portal to go there.

When your sim is a spellcaster they’ll get a Glimmerstone in their inventory. At any time they can click on this in their inventory and travel to the magic realm with this. However, there is a cooldown on this so you can’t travel there and then travel home back to back super quick.

- Learn a Potion Recipe
There are a bunch of ways you can learn potions, with the first being to click on a cauldron and choose experiment. Your sim will stir things and be weird for a while and they can learn new potion recipes this way.

Another way you can learn potion recipes is to search through bookcases in the magic HQ building. You’ll click on the bookcase and choose search for tomes. This has a cooldown though, which is annoying!

Once your sim finds one it’ll appear in their inventory and you can click on it and choose to study magical tomes and your sim will learn the potion!

You can also head over to Caster’s Alley in the magic realm and purchase tomes instead of searching for them! This is nice, but it does cost a decent amount of money so you’ll need to have some good funds available.

Stage Two: Bubbling Up

To increase your spellcaster rank you need to earn spellcaster XP which is earned through doing anything with magic. This includes when you do spells, experiment on a cauldron or participate in duels.
A great way to learn more about magic and get spellcaster XP is to talk to sages and ask for magical training. This will help you gain XP and you’ll also learn spells or potion recipes this way too!

Another thing you can do is click on your sim and choose practice magic and then get them to practice a category of magic!
- Own a Cauldron
For this aspiration you’ll want to have your own cauldron so you can make potions at home! You have two options for purchasing a cauldron either the paramount cauldron for 800 simoleons or the cauldron of excellency for 1,350 simoleons.

Once you place it on your lot it will satisfy this requirement!
- Know 3 Different Potions
Your sim can easily learn more potions as they grow their spellcaster rank. To learn more potion recipes you just need to get your sim to search for tomes on bookcases or go ahead and keep experimenting on the cauldron!
It’s important to note that there are limits to how many spells and potion recipes sims can have for each of the spellcaster ranks. Once you reach the top rank, you’ll be able to learn as many as you want.
Stage Three: Cauldron Concoctions

- Reach Spellcaster Rank 3 – Adept
For this stage of the aspiration you’ll need to reach the Adept level of being a spellcaster. Your sim can earn more spellcaster XP by asking for magical training from a sage, practicing magic by themselves, experimenting on a cauldron and participating in duels.
- Know 5 Different Potions
For this stage of the aspiration your sim needs to know five different potions. At any time you can click on your sim and under the magic menu you’ll find an option to open the spell book. You can see exactly how many spells your sim has learned and what they do under the alchemy section.

To learn more spells keep experimenting on a cauldron at the magic realm or in your home or search for tomes on a bookcase.
- Brew 5 Potions
Now that your sim has learned all these recipes it’s time to start brewing. When you click on a cauldron you’ll see an option to brew potion and when you click that a menu will appear where you get to choose which one to make.

When you get into that menu you’ll see that your sim needs to have the ingredients in their inventory to be able to craft them. You are able to purchase some ingredients at one of the stalls in Caster’s Alley in the magic realm, but not many of them.

Each ingredient has different ways you can find them in the wild, so you may need to put in some effort foraging for stuff! You’ll find crystals in rocks, frogs in frog stumps and plants around every world. You can also purchase stater magical plants and grow them yourself to get mandrake and valerian root.
Since you need so many ingredients to make potions you may want to purchase specific spellcaster perks. Here’s a couple that will help
- Incredible Forager: These spellcasters will receive more items when they harvest items in the magic realm
- Frugal Combination: These spellcasters have a chance that not all of the ingredients will be used to make a potion
- Mix Master: These spellcasters have a chance that there will be extra servings in the cauldron when they create potions without extra ingredients being consumed
Stage Four: Potion Pro

For the final stage of the sims 4 purveyor of potions aspiration your sim needs to reach the Virtuoso level. This will take a while, but you can do it!
You just need to keep doing various things that involve magic like casting spells, experimenting on a cauldron, brewing potions, asking for magical training from stronger spellcasters and participating in duels.
- Know 10 Different Potions
To get to ten potions is super easy as long as you are putting in the work. You just need to keep experimenting on a cauldron, searching for tomes and checking the shop in Caster’s Alley to see what tomes they are selling.
Master Mixer Reward Trait
When your sim finishes the sims 4 purveyor of potions aspiration they will be given the master mixer reward trait.
The description on this trait reads “As a master mixer, your sim rarely fails when using potions on themselves.”

This is super nice because you can still drink potions when your spellcaster charge is high, since having a high charge can make potions fail sometimes!
