Nectar making is a really fun hobby for your sims if they just want to make some as a treat.
You can also choose to sell your nectar for money instead, turning it into a business!
If your sims drink the nectar it can even have an impact on their mood!
How to Gain The Sims 4 Nectar Making Skill
To get started with nectar making your sim will need to purchase the Rootin’ Fruit’n Nectar Maker for their lot for ยง350.
Once you have this on your lot you can click on it and choose to purchase basic ingredients to get started immediately or you can grow your own fruits and vegetables to use to make nectar.
It’s recommended for you to grow your own vegetables because the quality of your nectar will be higher with higher quality inputs. Plus, it’s way less expensive than purchasing ingredients over and over. Just gain some gardening skill and you’ll be good to go!
Once you have apples or grapes you can start making nectar. You’ll click on the machine and click craft nectar and choose which input you’d like to use.
Your sim will take off their shoes and get inside the barrel of the nectar maker and start squishing. It’s kind-of gross to be honest. Sometimes they’ll fall which is funny, but their hygiene will decrease.
Once it’s complete your sim will go to the left side and bottle the nectar and it will appear in your sim’s inventory and you can sell it or drink it!
Ideal Mood for Nectar Making
With every skill there is an ideal mood that your sim should be in for gaining it. Why? Well, your sim will actually earn the skill faster and make high-quality nectar if they are in the right mood.
The ideal mood for nectar making is energized which your sims can get by taking a brisk shower!
Best Traits for Making Nectar
If you want to maximize your experience in the game, you need to choose traits that will benefit your sims and their skill gains. Here’s some traits that can help with nectar making:
- Active: Sims with this trait are going to get random energized moodlets that can help them with skill gains.
- Cheerful: Cheerful sims get random happy moodlets that can stack with energized to make it stronger.
You should also consider some lot traits to add to your sim’s home:
- Sunny Aspect: This traits comes with The Sims 4: City Living and will give a random moodlet at 6 PM each day. These are either happy, inspired or energized.
- Study Spot: This comes with The Sims 4: Discover University and has a gain to all skill gains.
How to Cheat The Sims 4 Nectar Making Skill
If you want the skill without the effort you have the option to cheat it instead. To make this happen you need to know stats.set_skill_level adultminor_ranchnectar 5 to max it out. If you want a different level of the skill, change the 5 to another number from 1-4.
Levels of the Skill
Nectar making is considered a minor skill in The Sims 4, meaning there are only five levels of the skill to earn!

| Level 5 | Your sim has mastered nectar making. With their newfound skill, they can craft vitality nectar, as well as their own custom berry and fruit nectars. Any nectar crafted by your sim will take less time to age. |
Caring For Your Nectar Maker
If you want to keep making high-quality nectar you need to care for your machine. Once in a while when you click on it you’ll see the option to clean nectar maker.
If you see this, do it! You want to keep your machine clean and sparkling to keep the quality high.
Aging Your Nectar
If your goal is to earn money with nectar you must age it. This improves the quality and sells it for more money. The first thing you need is the Rancher’s Stackable Nectar Storage Rack and ideally place it in a basement to make the aging process go quicker.
You can click on this item and place all unaged bottles of nectar inside and leave them for many, many days. The aging process is worth the money, but it does take a long time.
To check the status of your bottles you can click on this rack and choose open and see what bottles are doing. You’ll see them have not aged, lightly aged, etc. to let you know how far along in the process they are!
Just don’t drink your aged nectar, sell it! It makes it worth so much more money.
Changing Moods With Nectar Making
Just like with juice fizzing drinking nectar can effect your sim’s mood when they consume it, which is a fun detail.

- Potato Nectar: +2 Happy Moodlet 4h
- Grape Nectar: +1 Confident Moodlet 4h
- Apple Nectar: +1 Inspired Moodlet 4h
- Prairie Grass Nectar: + 1 Happy 4h
Drinking Too Much Nectar
Just like with liquid in the real world you need to make sure your sims aren’t drinking too much too fast. As you consume nectar you’ll start getting moodlets letting you know how your sim is doing.
Once you see the Really. Happy. Nectar. Feeling moodlet appear, that’s when you should stop drinking it. The consequences of continuing aren’t great, but it’s up to you!
When I ignored the moodlet’s warning I then drank another bottle and my sim got the Over-Nectared moodlet. This gave +8 dazed, made my sim pee their pants and then pass out on the floor. This lasted four hours!
Selling Nectar for More Money
If you are making nectar to make a profit you need to know about the Mysterious Rancher. When you’re hanging out around the Equestrian Centre you’ll sometimes get a notification from this sim letting you know they’re around to purchase nectar from you.
If you can’t find this sim you can click on their image in the notification and it will locate them for you. You can then introduce your sim to them and you’ll see the sell nectar option. Then, a menu will open and you can choose which nectar you’d like to sell to them.
The Mysterious Rancher is great because they always purchase your nectar for slightly more money than just selling it in your sim’s inventory!
Improving Nectar Making With DLC
There are certain packs that add fun gameplay for skills released at different times, there is some fun stuff for the sims 4 horse riding skill too.
Discover University
If you have The Sims 4: Discover University your sims have the ability to take a nectar making skill class at the University campus. You can access this in your phone too!
