The Sims 4 Motor Skill Guide (Child)
The sims 4 motor skill is all about your child learning how to use their body and using it well.
This covers tons of things from playing to learning to type so there are lots of ways you can gain it!
How to Get a Jumpstart on The Sims 4 Motor Skill
I’m always looking for ways for my sims to get a leg up on their peers to be the best they can be.
There is a way you can start with levels of this skill right when you age up to a child!
All you need to do is work on your toddlers’ movement skill before they age up.
If you have level 3 of movement your child will start with an almost full level 1 bar of motor and if you max movement at level 5 they’ll have an almost full level 2 bar of motor.
This is amazing because you can start with hours of work done for your kids!
How to Gain The Motor Skill
There are a bunch of ways your sims can gain the motor skill in The Sims 4 and a lot of them are just things that kids do when they’re… being kids! The first way is to practice typing on the computer.

The next thing you can do is head over to the park or purchase the Look at Me Monkey Bars for your sim’s backyard. Playing on these is a great way to gain this skill because it also fills your sim’s fun need.

If monkey bars aren’t your thing you can also gain the motor skill by playing on any of the jungle gyms in the game. This gives the skill pretty slow, so it’s not my favourite but it’s fun to have multiple kids playing together.

You can gain this skill through swimming too, however, you need to have your sims swim laps if you want to see any meaningful gains to the skill.

Did you know that you can gain the motor skill through video gaming on the gaming mat? Pretty fun, eh? You can have your sims gain the video gaming skill at the same time as the motor skill with this too.

At level four of the motor skill your child is going to unlock the game keyboard commander under the play game section on the computer. This one will let your sim gain the motor and video gaming skill at the same time too!

Levels of the Sims 4 Motor Skill
There are ten levels of the motor skill for children to gain and each of them is going to have fun unlocks and new interactions for your kid to do.
Level | Level Unlocks |
---|---|
Level 1 | Children can play on the monkey bars and practice typing at a computer. |
Level 2 | Your children’s motor skills are improving nicely, they’ll do better on monkey bars! |
Level 3 | Children can now ask for typing tips from other sims. |
Level 4 | Children can now Play Keyboard Commander on a computer. |
Level 5 | Children can now hangout on the monkey bars. |
Level 6 | Children will sometimes get a high score moodlet from playing keyboard commander on a computer. |
Level 7 | Children can now get better moodlets from the monkey bars. |
Level 8 | Children’s motor skills are getting better and they can move quicker on monkey bars. |
Level 9 | Children will sometimes get more motor skill from the monkey bars and playing games on a motion gaming rig or computer. |
Level 10 | Children master their motor skill! Playing on the monkey bars will sometimes give a powerful moodlet. |
How to Cheat The Motor Skill
Every skill in The Sims 4 has a great cheat attached to it so you can get the skill without the effort. The cheat you need to know for the motor skill is stats.set_skill_level Skill_Child_Motor 10 and this will max out the skill for your sims.
If you want a different level of the motor skill you can change the number at the end to any other number from 1 to 10 to get a different level.
Gaining The Video Game Skill
If you want to gain two skills at once you can actually gain the video gaming skill by playing Keyboard Commander on the computer at the same time as gaining the motor skill!
You can also play with the (way too expensive) gaming mat and gain video gaming and motor at the same time. It’s nice that we can stack these skills now because previously you could only gain adult skills once you’d already maxed out the child skill.
Gaining The Sims 4 Motor Skill with Horse Riding
If you have The Sims 4: Horse Ranch in your game, your kids can earn the motor skill with horse riding. The best part about this is that they can also gain the horse riding skill at the exact same time!
