The medium skill is so fun for creating an entirely new style of gameplay for your sims.
Living in a haunted house is so different and adds many challenges which can be fun if you’re bored with the game.
Plus, with this skill maxed you can get a Paranormal Investigator License and help other people with their paranormal problems.
How to Gain The Sims 4 Medium Skill
To start gaining the medium skill you’ll need to have a seance table for your sims to play around with. You can find these in the build menu with or without matching chairs.
The first thing you are able to do when you start gaining this skill is commune with the departed. When your sim is doing this they’ll gain the skill and get random notifications from sims who have passed with funny things to say.
The other thing you can do right away is sense spiritual volatility however, you need to be in a haunted house to do this one. You can change your house to a haunted house in the top left corner of the build menu.
As you gain more of the skill you’ll unlock new abilities that will do different things that are all so fun! We’ll go over those later. To gain this skill you just need to keep doing interactions with the seance table and you’ll max it in no time.
Ideal Mood for The Medium Skill
The emotions system in The Sims 4 is important because each skill has an ideal mood attached to it to make a sim gain the skill faster. For the sims 4 medium skill you want your sims to feel focused whenever possible. An easy way to get focused is by pondering moves on a chess board!
Best Traits for Gaining This Skill
The traits your sims have a really important for their skill gains, so there’s a few you may want to have if you want a sim to gain the sims 4 medium skill:
- Genius: Genius sims are going to get random focused moodlets often which is the ideal mood for this skill.
- Practice Makes Perfect: This trait starts a sim’s skill gains slower, but they eventually speed up. Plus, your sims can get random focused moodlets from this too.
- Cheerful: Cheerful sims get happy moodlets more often which can help to combat some of the bad parts of paranormal activity
How to Cheat The Medium Skill
There are cheats for every single skill in the game, and cheating the medium skill is great. You’ll just need to know stats.set_skill_level minor_medium 5 to max the skill. There are only five levels of this skill so if you want a different level of this skill you’ll change the five to a number from 1-4.
Levels of the Sims 4 Medium Skill
The medium skill is a minor skill which means that there are only five levels of the skill to gain. As you gain them you’ll get new, fun abilities!

They can also create a seance circle anywhere in the world now! They are also eligible to get a paranormal investigator license. |
Seance Table Options
There are a bunch of different Seance table options you’ll unlock as you gain the skill and each has different effects on your sims and their environment.
Commune With The Departed
When you choose to commune with the departed you’ll have your sim chatting with dead sims. You’ll get some notifications with dead sims chatting to you and you can learn things from them but not really, they say gibberish mostly.
Sense Spiritual Volatility
This ability is only available for households that are haunted, so you’ll need to be in a haunted house residential lot to make this happen. This interaction is used to sense how haunted the current lot is. You’ll learn about the level of paranormal activity as well as how the specters will treat your sims.
Perform Ceremony
When you choose perform ceremony you’ll make your sim’s house slightly less haunted. This is only an option if you are in a haunted house residential lot. This drains a lot of your sim’s energy, so you can have sims pass out after sometimes but they’ll be less scared of their house!
Invoke the Dead
Choosing to invoke the dead will summon the dead onto your lot, not sure why anyone would want to do this, but sure! After I completed this interaction a cutie little specter appeared and was floating around for a while. You can interact with these to keep them nice, or they may start being slightly more evil.
Ghastly Ritual
Have you ever wanted to become a ghost but only for a short time? Well, with the ghastly ritual you can do this. Your sim will get a +1 Focused Moodlet that will turn them into a ghost until the moodlet disappears after four hours.
Summoning Bonehilda
If you choose to Summon Bonehilda, you’ll have a great time. This will summon the helpful skeleton Bonehilda who can be your friend and your maid. This gorgeous creature will do all sorts of chores around the house like mopping, dishes, and she even left chocolate chip cookies around!
Creating a Seance Circle
When your sim maxes the sims 4 medium skill you’ll be able to start creating seance circles. This allows your sims to do any seance table interactions anywhere in the world without needing to have a table with them!
Becoming a Paranormal Investigator
The best part about playing around with the sims 4 medium skill is being able to become a paranormal investigator. To do this you need to first get a paranormal investigator license and there’s two ways to do this.
The first way is to befriend Guidry who visits haunted houses once in a while. Eventually you’ll get the I want to become a Paranormal Investigator interaction you can do where you can get your license.
The other way you can get this license is by purchasing a paranormal investigator license from the reward store. This will cost your sim 3,000 satisfaction points!
Once you’ve obtained your license you’ll need to choose your freelance career. You’ll use a computer or phone to get a job and choose freelancer when the menu opens.
After that menu, another menu will appear and you’ll choose Federal Bureau of Spooky Investigation and your sim will officially be an investigator.
Once you join the career you’ll go to the career panel and click the button to choose a gig. Then you’ll get to select one based on difficulty, pay, and time of day that you’ll be working.
Once you’ve chosen a gig you’ll be asked if you want to go with them or send them alone. It’s way more fun to go with them and start figuring out how to fix it! You’ll want to do a seance circle on the floor to perform a ceremony to help with this.
The next thing you need to do is remove all the scary stuff from around the house from scary dolls to creepy tendrils and more.
You want to keep doing things until the meter is full and the gig will be complete!
Taking Skill Classes With Discover University
There are fun ways to gain skills in other packs too. If you have The Sims 4: Discover University in your game you’ll be able to take skill classes for the sims 4 medium skill to gain this skill without doing seances. You’ll just have to pay 250 simoleons!
