The Sims 4 Luck Guide
With Enchanted by Nature we now have access to sims 4 luck!
When you have luck in the game your sim can either have a good luck or bad luck day, or a regular day with ordinary luck.
So many parts of your sim’s life are impacted by their luck, so it’s important to know how it works!
What is Affected by My Sim’s Luck?
There are a whole bunch of categories that are affect by your sim’s daily luck, this includes:
- Collecting
- Skill Gains
- Quality of Crafting Items
- Foraging Outputs
- Career Progression
- The Lottery (The Sims 4: Seasons)
Types of Sims 4 Luck
There are three levels of luck that you’ll see and your sim’s luck will change each day.

The highest level is Good Luck where your sims will see improvements. In this stage your sim will find rarer collectibles more often, they’ll get promoted in careers faster, they’ll find better items when foraging and if you have Seasons they have a higher chance of winning the lottery.
The middle level is Ordinary luck. At this level your sim will see no impact on any of the affected areas that day.
The lowest level is Bad Luck where your sim will see lots of negative impacts. When a sim has bad luck, bad things happen. They will set their kitchen on fire more, make lower quality food and crafted items, get fired or demoted more quickly, and more.
How to Change Your Sim’s Luck
There are actually a bunch of ways to change your sim’s luck that you can implement. It is important to know that your sim’s balance is a huge factor in what luck you’re given each day. Sims with high balance are more likely to have good luck that unbalanced sims!
Changing Luck With Luck Charms
With the apothecary skill your sims are able to create luck charms that can change their luck. There’s one for good luck and one for bad luck. To change your sim’s luck with these items you just need to have them in your sim’s inventory. Both luck charms require level 7 of the apothecary skill!

To improve your sim’s luck with a luck charm you’ll want to create the freezer bunny foot. This requires 2 tulips and 1 lightning root leaf to be crafted.
To decrease your sim’s luck with a luck charm you’ll make the cowplant horn. This requires 1 cowplant berry and 1 aura petal to be crafted.
After 48 hours your sim will need to refresh these charms by using fairy dust, which you can get in so many ways!
Asking The Great Gnome for Luck
If you head to the Coast of Adhmor neighbourhood in Innisgreen and look for the giant gnome statue you can improve your luck! You can click on that giant gnome and click ask gnome for good luck if your luck is ordinary.

If successful you’ll get a notification saying “Behold! The great gnome has bestowed a gift of luck to your sim. They must be one special sim indeed! Your sim’s luck is better than it was before.” After doing this my sim’s luck went from ordinary to good!
Shifting Luck as a Fairy
If you have your fairy improve their rank and spend their perk points on the shift luck and shift another’s luck perks you can change luck!

The first one, shift luck, lets you click on your fairy when controlling them and under the fairy category you’ll find shift luck and you can either increase or decrease it.

If you purchase the second round you’ll have the option to shift another’s luck. This means you can click on the other sim and under the fairy menu you’ll find shift luck and choose to either increase or decrease it.
Asking Spruce Almighty for Help
In the Sprucederry Grove neighbourhood you’ll find a sim named Spruce Almighty. Where? Well, you’ll need to summon him by clicking on a weird tree stump with a face on it.

When you click summon you’ll see a green plantsim character appear and thatt is Spruce. You can introduce yourself and then find the Spruce Almightly category on the menu and under that you can click get help with luck.

Increasing Luck With Lucky Liquid
At level seven of the apothecary skill your sim can create an elixir called Lucky Liquid. This requires 3 ingredients to craft it:
- Small Critter Bone (4)
- Scared Emotion Potion (1)
- Lemon (3)
When my sim consumed this they were having a bad luck day but after consumption they were given Good Luck. This gave the sim a +1 Confident moodlet called Luck Be an Elixir that lasts 24 hours.

Sometimes you can also purchase this item from Apothecary Todd’s booth in Sprucederry Grove! He has a rotating stock, so there’s a chance of finding this item for sale.
As someone who has always had pretty good luck and it impacts my life and choices, I love this addition to the game. Thankfully, if you hate the sims 4 luck system you can disable luck and go about your merry way!
