This aspiration came with the base game and lets your sims explore the comedy skill and entertainer career!
Gregarious Bonus Trait
When you start your sim with any of the popularity aspirations like this one, they’re going to get the gregarious bonus trait. This trait’s description reads “Gregarious sims build friendly relationships faster.”
This is a decent bonus trait for your sims to have, but isn’t super helpful for this aspiration play through.
Best Traits for The Sims 4 Joke Star Aspiration
The traits your sim has are important to make the aspiration process easier, and these are some traits to choose for your sim in the joke star aspiration:
- Goofball: The best mood for earning the comedy skill is playful and goofball sims are able to get playful easier.
- Outgoing: These sims are better at chatting with others and enjoy it more, and in this aspiration you need to be funny to other sims!
- Shameless: This is a reward store trait you can purchase for 2,000 satisfaction points. This makes it so your sim no longer feels embarrassed which can be great if they have jokes that fail.

- Convivial: The convivial lot trait helps your sim gain the comedy skill more quickly!
- Study Spot: This reward trait from The Sims 4: Discover University gives your sim a small boost to gaining all skills.
Stages of the Aspiration
There are four stages of the sims 4 joke star aspiration to play through. Each stage has interesting tasks to complete and your sim will gain satisfaction points that they can spend on rewards.
Stage One: Practical Joker
- Be Funny to 5 Sims
The first task in this aspiration is to be funny to five sims this means five different sims, not one sim five times. For this you’ll want to introduce yourself to different sims and then do anything in the funny social category!
You’ll also need to get your sim to level three of the comedy skill and you have a few options for this. Your first option is to read comedy skill books that you can purchase from a bookcase.
Your next options to gain the comedy skill are more active where you can either write or tell jokes at the beginning of gaining the skill. To start you’ll click on a computer and choose write jokes and your sim will sit down at the computer and get to work.
You can also purchase a microphone from the build catalog and click on it and choose tell jokes and your sim will start performing some mediocre jokes!
Stage Two: Stand-Up Start-Up
- Become an Adult
Everything before this point could’ve been done while your sim was a teenager, but now it’s time to get serious. Your sim will need to age up from teenager to young adult or start their life as a young adult from create-a-sim.
- Join the Entertainer Career
This aspiration is focused on comedy and to become a comedian you’ll want to join the entertainer career. You can go to the sim’s career panel and choose find a job and scroll until you see the entertainer career and choose it and click the check mark to join!
- Own a Microphone
Since your sim wants to write and perform comedy routines they need to own a microphone! You can find one from the base game in the activities and skills section or you can search the word microphone to find it.

Stage Three: Funny Businessperson
- Join The Comedian Branch of the Entertainer Career
To keep going in this aspiration your sim needs to get to level 5 of the entertainer career. You’ll need to do the daily tasks and gain the appropriate skills to get promoted a few times.
At the fifth level of the skill your sim will get to choose between the musician and comedian branches of this career. You’ll want to choose the comedian branch!
- Write 3 Comedy Routines
Comedians can’t just get up on stage and start talking, they need to prepare for it and write their routines. To do this you’ll need a computer and you’ll click on the computer and choose comedy and initially you’ll have the compose short routine as the option.
As you continue gaining the skill you’ll unlock longer routines you can write too, but the short routines do the job for this part of the aspiration.
- Achieve Level 6 Comedy Skill
The last part of stage three has your sim needing to reach level 6 of the comedy skill, easy! You’ll have a few more options than before because now you can gain the skill when you are writing routines on a computer or when you perform them on a microphone in addition to writing and telling jokes.
Stage Four: Joke Star
- Perform 3 Comedy Routines
In the last part your sim wrote three comedy routines and now it’s time to perform them. You can either perform them on a microphone at home or do it in public if your sim needs attention.
You’ll click on a microphone and choose perform routine and a menu will appear and every routine your sim has written so far will be available as an option.
You must do this three times but it can be the same routine over and over.
- Achieve Level 10 Comedy Skill
To finish off the sims 4 joke star aspiration your sim needs to max out the comedy skill! You can do this slowly over time by performing and writing your routines, writing jokes and reading skill books. If you’re feeling lazy you can also cheat this by using stats.set_skill_level major_comedy 10 to max it out instead.
Hilarious Reward Trait
When your sim finishes the sims 4 joke star aspiration they’ll be given the hilarious reward trait. This trait’s description reads “Hilarious sims can never go wrong with a joke, and have a few extra special ones up their sleeve.”
The best part about this reward trait is that these sims will never feel embarrassed about telling a bad joke again!
