If you aren’t afraid of ghosts you should play the sims 4 ghost historian aspiration!

This aspiration comes with The Sims 4: Life & Death and is a spooky one.

Your sim will need to befriend ghosts and even write horror books!

Quick Learner Bonus Trait

When you start a sim off with a knowledge aspiration like this one (or something like the nerd brain aspiration) they’ll get the quick learner bonus trait.

This trait helps sim gain all skills faster which is so helpful!

Best Traits for The Sims 4 Ghost Historian Aspiration

You should always think about traits when you’re making a sim that can help with your aspiration. Here’s a few that might help with this aspiration:

  • Creative: In this aspiration you’ll need to have your sim write horror books and sell them for royalties. Your sim should feel inspired when writing these and creative sims get inspired more often.
  • Creative Visionary (2,000): This is a trait you can purchase from the reward store, it’s going to give your sims a higher chance of writing high quality books. That’s helpful because you earn more royalties from higher quality books!

You can also add lot traits to your sim’s house to make this even easier:

  • Fast Internet: This trait will help sims gain the writing skill faster.
  • Home Studio: This trait comes with The Sims 4: City Living and will increase the quality of books your sim writes.
  • Study Spot: This trait comes with Discover University and gives a small skill boost to all skills!

Stages of the Aspiration

There are four stages of the sims 4 ghost historian aspiration to work through. Each stage has tasks that range from befriending ghosts to writing horror books and publishing them!

Stage One: Getting in the Spirit

  • Befriend a Ghost

The first task you have in this aspiration is to befriend a ghost! You need to get a relationship with a ghost to 35% friendship, which is super easy and can be done on the first meeting which is nice. Once you meet a ghost just do some friendly interactions and you’ll get there in no time.

I met three ghosts during the Ravenwood Welcoming Committee event that replaces the welcome wagon when my sim first moved in. This made it easy to make friends with ghosts!

There are a few ways you can gain the thanatology skill without joining the reaper career, so thankfully you’ll be good to go! You can do the following tasks to gain the skill:

  • Look Up Historical Deaths on a Bookcase
  • Write Obituaries on a Computer
  • Read Theories on… on a Computer

The best option is to write obituaries because you also need to gain the writing skill and you’ll gain them at the same time doing this!

Your sim will need to gain a lot of the writing skill for later parts of this aspiration, so gaining it now is good. You can get to level 2 of the writing skill by clicking on a computer and choosing write > write obituaries!

The best part about writing obituaries is that your sim will gain the writing and thanatology skills at the same time.

Stage Two: Writer Among Wraiths

  • Befriend Another Ghost

When the Ravenwood Welcoming Committee came to my house there were three ghosts and I only previously befriended one, so I invited another over. I just did some friendly interactions over and over to get the relationship to 35% to satisfy this need.

  • Find a Rare Item in a Crypt

The next task you need to do is find a rare item in a crypt. You’ll need to purchase the Crypt of Eternity from the build mode catalog.

Once you place this item you’ll click on it and choose explore the underground crypts and your sim will enter a rabbit hole.

Once you enter you’ll get a series of action cards to respond to. If you get the option for mystery boxes, choose the box of life that’s what gave me the money that satisfied this need.

I did this multiple times and only ever got money, but that satisfied this need. Just keep doing your exploration and answering the action cards and you’ll eventually satisfy this requirement.

Your sim will need to reach level 3 of the thanatology skill which you can do by continuing to write obituaries since you need the writing skill too!

You can choose to write obituaries to earn this skill and thanatology at the same time or just write books to sell for royalties.

Stage Three: Phantasmal Fantasy

  • Find a Rare Item in a Crypt

I’m not a fan of repetitive aspirations so this being in here twice is annoying to me. All you need to do is go back into the crypts to explore and hope to get some money or other goodies!

  • Make Contact with Edith

This is one of the weirdest aspiration tasks I’ve ever seen but it was a fun one. In this part you need to make contact with Edith, a weird little ghost girl. However, you need to start by chatting with her mother.

You’ll find Alice, Edith’s mother in the Mourningvale neighbourhood near a weird tree!

Once you find her click on her to introduce yourself and then click on ask about alice’s sorrow. You’ll get an action card explaining that she’s worried about what happened to her children so click yes to continue this journey.

The first thing you need to do is Find Deimos. You’ll find them by exploring a crypt!

You’ll then need to find the next offspring, Freddy. For this you’ll travel to the Crow’s Crossing neighbourhood and go to the children’s playground. You’ll see specters flying around and when you click on the right one you’ll see an option to ask about Alice’s sorrow.

Next up is Ann, you’ll find their tombstone in the Whispering Glen neighbourhood on a little island in the center of the river.

Now it’s time to find Edith. You’ll find them near the Well of Longing and Regret in the Crow’s Crossing neighbourhood. They are an angry child and you need to befriend them to be able to ask them about Alice’s sorrow to complete this part of the aspiration.

After that you’ll need to return to Alice and report your findings! When you do this you’ll unlock new interactions on the weird tree where Alice hangs out!

To finish this stage your sim needs to reach level 7 of the writing skill. You’re no longer required to gain the thanatology skill so you can gain this by writing other books you can license for money!

Stage Four: Spectrally Spectacular

  • Write a Horror Book

Horror is a genre of book I’d never read, I’m a baby. However, my sims can write them! You’ll unlock the ability to write horror at level 7 of the writing skill.

You’ll find this option under write > write genre book > horror. You just need to get your sim to complete 3 different horror books to accomplish this task.

  • Earn Royalties from Publishing Books (2,000)

When your sim writes books they have the option to publish those books so they can start earning royalties. For this aspiration your sim will need to earn 2,000 simoleons by doing this.

When you have a completed book in your sim’s inventory head over to the mailbox to publish the book.

Each day at 10AM your sim will receive royalties from the books they’ve published. You’ll want to publish each book you write and you should be able to get there in a week or so!

Ghost Whisperer Reward Trait

When a sim manages to finish the sims 4 ghost historian aspiration they will be awarded with the ghost whisperer reward trait.

This trait’s description reads “Ghost Whisperers make friends (and more) with ghosts more easily. They will also get particularly excited when encountering ghosts of all kinds, Grim, and even crows!
