The Sims 4 Friend of the Animals Aspiration
There are a ton of aspirations to choose from but the sims 4 friend of the animals aspiration is a fun one.
This aspiration comes to your game with The Sims 4: Cats & Dogs.
This aspiration has your sims needing to befriend as many cats and dogs as they can.
Plus, you’ll get to play around with the pet training skill!
Animal Affection Bonus Trait
When you start your sim off with the sims 4 friend of the animals aspiration you’re going to give them a bonus trait. The trait you’ll get is animal affection and the description reads “Relationships with animals begin at higher values.”
Having this trait will make it so much easier to train pets because they are going to be your friend easier!
Ideal Traits for The Sims 4 Friend of The Animals Aspiration
The traits that your sims have can have such an impact on their life and their ability to complete aspirations. There are certain traits that can be helpful for finishing this aspiration:
- Animal Affection: If you give your sim this aspiration when you create your sim or when they age up to a teenager they’ll get this reward trait. It’s going to start your sims off with a higher relationship with pets immediately.
- Dog Lover: Sims who have the dog lover trait will gain relationships with dogs faster than other sims.
- Cat Lover: Sims who have the cat lover trait will gain relationships with cats faster than other sims.
- Cheerful: Sims who are cheerful will just be in a better mood and will probably have better interactions with their pets.
You can also add the following lot trait to make your experience better:
- Training Ground: This lot trait is going to make your sim gain the pet training skill more quickly, this means that they will have more success when trying to train out misbehaviours with this aspiration.
- Cat/Dog Hangout: These two traits are great to add because stray animals will appear all the time and you can befriend them easily!
If you want to take it even further and choose traits for your dog and cat, here’s some that can be helpful:
- Friendly: A friendly pet will be easier to become friends with!
- Smart (Dogs): Smart dogs are easier to train so will catch on to training out misbehaviors faster.
- Clever (Cats): Clever cats are going to catch on to training faster.
Stages of the Aspiration
There are four total stages of this aspiration and all of them can be worked through without too much effort. It’s great because you don’t need to max any of the skills or have a career to complete this aspiration.
Stage One: Acquaintance of the Animals
- Have a Cat or Dog in Your Household (50 Points)
To get a pet in your household you have a few options. The first is to create your cat or dog in create-a-sim which lets you pick everything about the animal including their traits.
The next option would be to use your phone to adopt a cat or dog.
Finally, you can get your sims to befriend a stray pet and adopt that animal instead.
- Be Friends With 1 Cat or Dog (50 Points)
The next thing you need to do is to be friends with one animal. Thankfully, you’ll already have a pet in your sim’s household. Just do a bunch of friendly interactions with your pet and you’ll be friends with them in no time.
Since my sim had the animal affection trait they did like 3 interactions and we’re friends!
- Be Friendly With a Cat or Dog 12 Times (750 Points)
This section needs you to be friendly with animals 12 times. This is easy because you’re already working on making them your friend. To do this you’ll just need to do some friendly interactions with your pet.
Stage Two: Friend of the Animals
- Be Friends With 5 Cats and/or Dogs (250 Points)
The first thing you need to do for stage two is be friends with 5 animals. Thankfully, these don’t all need to be in your household. You can make friends with stray pets around the neighbourhood, cats and dogs in other households or any in your own household too.
A great place to go to meet pets is the Pupperstone Park because lots of dogs appear here. Or you can add the cat or dog hangout lot traits to your lot so strays will come hangout and you can befriend them!
- Be Companions With 1 Cat or Dog (300 Points)
Becoming a companion with a pet is honestly so easy. You’re going to need to continue working on your relationship with your favourite pet in your sim’s household. Just keep doing friendly interactions and caring for them as you would.
Eventually when you click on them you’ll see the become companions option appear and you’ll be able to finish this. Becoming companions is such a beautiful thing, they’re your sims bestie now!
- Successfully Train Out 2 Misbehaviours (325 Points)
Training out misbehaviours is the best part of the pet training skill that you get with this pack. You are able to get pets to stop doing annoying things like scratching furniture, peeing inside or playing on the counters.
To train out these behaviours you need to catch the pet in the act and while controlling the sim with this aspiration, click on the pet. Once you click on the pet you’ll see lecture about X behaviour. You’ll just need to do this more than once for the same behaviour.
Stage Three: Best Friend of the Animals
- Be Companions With 2 Cats or Dogs (600 Points)
The sims 4 friend of the animals aspiration is just about being friends with as many pets as possible, and that’s what this is. You’ll need to do the same thing as last round.
Do lots of friendly interactions with a pet until eventually the become companions option appears in your social menu with that pet!
- Feel The Love 5 Times (550 Points)
I’m obsessed with the feel the love interaction because each time you do it you’ll get satisfaction points that you can spend in the reward store. To get this interaction to pop up you need to do some affectionate interactions with this pet a few times like hugging and petting them.
You’ll see it pop up and the sim and their pet will snuggle for a second and you’ll get points each time! The fun part is that you actually get more points the better the relationship!
- Successfully Train Out 4 Misbehaviours (700 Points)
To complete this section you just need to train out more pet misbehaviours from your pets. This is easy, just lecture pets when they’re doing naughty tasks like playing on the counters or peeing in the house.
Stage Four: BFF of the Animals
- Play with 2 Different Ghost Cats or Dogs (850 Points)
The idea of playing around with ghost pets really freaks me out to be honest. However, you gotta do what you gotta do. So, there are a few ways you can access a ghost pet.
The first way is to have a pet in your sim’s household pass away and keep their tombstone. If you have this tombstone on your lot, a pet can appear as a ghost from time to time.
The other way is to go to the pet cemetery that’s located in Brindleton Bay at night! This is located on the island in the middle of all the trees on one end.
At night you’ll see some ghost pets hanging out. They started to appear after 11 PM when the cemetary got really creepy and the water turned green.
You can befriend these little cuties and start playing with them to finish this part.
- Feel the Love With 8 Different Cats or Dogs (1000 Points)
To feel the love you just need to do some cute affectionate interactions with your pets, and other pets in the world. This can include cuddling, petting, and more. Once you do these enough you’ll see the feel the love interaction appear.
You need to do this with 8 different pets! Since you are working on being friends with 12 different pets this isn’t too hard to make happen.
- Be Friends with 12 Cats and/or Dogs at the Same Time (800 Points)
Twelve animals may seem like a lot, but when your sim is an animal lover it’s nothing. You just need to do friendly interactions with pets until you can become friends!
This can include pets in your household, stray pets in the world and pets in other households too.
Having the animal affection trait is so helpful with this because your sim can do the friendliest introduction with pets and start with 1/3 of their friendship bar full!
Rewards for Completing The Sims 4 Friend of the Animals Aspiration
When your sim manages to finish off this aspiration they are going to be given the animal whisperer reward trait. The description for this says “It is easier to train and discipline animals as well as gain relationship with them faster.”
This is a great reward trait if you have a bunch of pets and want them to all be well behaved, or if you want to be a Veterinarian and need to make friends with animals often.
