The Sims 4 Formative Moments Guide

The addition of Sims 4 Formative Moments is a fun one, letting your sim’s childhood have an impact on their future.

Formative moments were added to the game with The Sims 4: Adventure Awaits and give you so many fun challenges to play around with.

How to Get Formative Moments

There are a few ways you can get formative moments to play through. The first way is through gameplay, sometimes you’ll see “start XYZ challenge” on items and clicking that will start the formative moment for your sim.

The next way is to click on your sim and choose take on formative challenge. This will add an option for you to play through in the formative moments section.

There are a few that can be started by clicking on a bookcase and choosing find lost scrapbook. You’ll get the three “follow in their footsteps” formative moments from this.

There are also a few that are situation dependent. For one, you’ll need to have your sim have the Kleptomaniac trait and for another you need to have someone close to your sim die.

There are 50 formative moments to play through with different tasks and fun reward traits. I’ve done a walk-through for each of them so you can see exactly how to complete the tasks!

Giving Adults Formative Moments

If you didn’t play with your sim as a child you have ways to add formative moments to them after the fact. You’ll click on your sim and choose recall a lost formative moment.

When you do this a menu will appear where you can see all of the formative moment traits and you can choose one that will benefit your sim.

The other way to do this is to purchase them with satisfaction points from the reward store for 100 points each.
