How to Win The Egg Competition in The Sims 4
If your hens are producing great eggs you should enter the sims 4 egg competition!
This competition from The Sims 4: Cottage Living will happen at The Finchwick fair.
How to Enter the Egg Competition
Your sim can enter the competition by going to The Finchwick Chicken Fair which happens every few weeks on a Saturday. You’ll have the event happen between 3:30 and 9:30PM but your sim will stay after for judging.
You’ll need to make sure before you head over that the egg is in your sim’s inventory and isn’t spoiled. If it was hatched days before the fair you can put it in the fridge to extend it’s life.
Once at the event you’ll see a bunch of stands where you can click and choose submit entry. You’ll look for the one that has an egg on it.
A menu will open letting you choose a specific egg to enter into the competition and it will go into the spot available for judging.
You’ll wait hours for the judging to start to see your results. If you want to be naughty you have the option to attempt to bribe the judge, but this can backfire and have you lose!
How to Win The Egg Competition in The Sims 4
There are two factors that go into winning the egg competition which are the quality of your eggs and the type of egg you submit.
Entering High-Quality Eggs
Your egg’s quality is affected by the happiness of the hen who is laying them. To increase the quality of your sim’s eggs you’ll want to keep their needs high by making sure they are taken care of by feeding them, socializing them and keeping them clean.
Entering Rare Eggs
The other factor is the type of eggs you enter. You can enter any colourful egg for better results, however, an obsidian egg or a golden egg will have the best results.
To get an obsidian egg you’ll need to feed your hen either a midnight treat or a spicy treat. If you feed a midnight treat they’ll turn into an evil chicken, but a spicy treat means they’ll stay a regular chicken but just produce an obsidian egg.
You can make the spicy treat with the following ingredients:
- Spicy Mushroom
- Any Vegetable
You can also submit a golden egg which you can get in two ways. A hen can randomly produce a golden egg if their needs are high and they are happy.
You can guarantee a golden egg by turning your hen into a golden chicken by feeding them a golden treat. You’ll need these ingredients to produce the golden treat:
- Cowberry Jam or Honey
- Golden Egg
Entering either of these special eggs will give you a better chance to get first place at the fair.
Getting Judged at the Fair
The mayor walks around during the time of the fair but the judging results don’t happen until after the fair is over. You’ll get a notification called Finchwick Fair Competition Result which will tell you how your sim placed in this event!
You’ll get a secondary notification saying what you got as a reward for your placement. For example, my sim got first place and got:
- 1 First Place Egg Competition Ribbon
- 1 Llamacorn (A unicorn outfit for a llama)
All items will go into your sim’s inventory and the best item is the first place ribbon because it counts toward the village fair ribbons collection which is one of the hardest ones to complete!
