The Sims 4 Country Caretaker Aspiration
If you love animals you may want to play with the sims 4 country caretaker aspiration.
This aspiration comes from The Sims 4: Cottage Living and has your sim caring for animals.
You’ll need to befriend your animals and wild animals too!
Collector Bonus Trait
When your sim starts their life with a nature aspiration they are going to be given the collector bonus trait. This trait makes it so your sim has an easier time finding rare collectibles.

This is a great trait for aspirations like the curator aspiration but truly isn’t helpful for this one.
Best Traits for the Sims 4 Country Caretaker Aspiration
You can always add traits to your sims that may help you finish aspirations faster. Here are a few aspirations that can be helpful for this aspiration:
- Loves the Outdoors: With this aspiration your sim will spend so much time outside. So, you may as well have them enjoying it!
- Animal Enthusiast: Sims who have this trait are going to have an easier time caring for and befriending animals!
There aren’t any lot traits that will help, however there is a lot challenge:
- Wild Foxes: This is a lot challenge you can add to your sim’s house! Having wild foxes will make it so random foxes pop up and you can socialize with them for parts of this aspiration. Buyer beware though, foxes do love to steal!
Stages of the Aspiration
There are four stages of the sims 4 country caretaker aspiration to play through. In each aspiration stage your sim will need to do things like befriending animals, chatting with rabbits or birds and more. When you complete these tasks you’ll get to earn satisfaction points to spend on rewards!
Stage One: Campestral Curator

- Purchase 1 Cow, Chicken or Llama on Your Home Lot
Your first task for this aspiration is to purchase either a cow, chicken or llama. To get a cow or a llama you’ll need to purchase the Animal Shed for §500 and place it on your lot.

Once you place this item you’ll click on it and choose purchase animal. A menu will appear and you can choose between a beige and white llama or a brown or spotted cow.

To get chickens on your lot you’ll need to purchase a Chicken Coop for §400 and place it on your lot.

Once you place the chicken coop you’ll click on it and choose purchase chickens and a menu will appear where you can choose between hens and roosters and chicks.

- Socialize with a Fox, Rabbit or Bird 5 Times
Your next task is to socialize 5 times with a fox, rabbit or bird. You can do just a few interactions with each, or go five deep on one animal. For foxes, you’ll see them wandering around the world or you can add the wild foxes lot challenge to have them hangout on your sim’s lot.

When you see one you can click on it and interact and do some friendly interactions to satisfy this requirement.
To find a rabbit you’ll need to look for a cut tree stump with a hole in the front, this is where rabbits live! You’ll eventually see a rabbit around it, or you can click to try and lure rabbits out if they are home.

You can click on these rabbits and choose socialize and pick any of these interactions to satisfy this need.

For wild birds you’ll find a small tree stump that’s shorter than adult sims and this is where the wild birds live. You can click on the tree and interact with this animal.

- Purchase 1 Garden Patch for Your Home Lot
For this part of the aspiration your sim needs to purchase a garden patch where you can grow oversized crops. You’ll find two options for this, the only difference is aesthetic. Both cost your sim §10!

- Visit Finchwick, Old New Henford, and the Bramblewood Neighbourhoods
There are three neighbourhoods in Henford-On-Bagley to explore. For this part of the aspiration all you need to do is travel to one lot at each of these neighbourhoods!

Stage Two: Agrestic Savant

- Befriend a Chicken, Cow or Llama
You’ve already placed a cow, chicken or llama on your lot, and now it’s time to become friends. To do this you need to click on the animal and do some social interactions with them!

You can go into your relationship panel at any time and see how you’re doing under the livestock category. You’ll need to get this animal to around 40% friendship with your sim.
- Place 1 Wild Rabbit Home or Flock or Wild Birds on Your Home Lot
In build mode you’ll find a wild rabbit home and flock of wild birds, but you can’t purchase these right away!

To be able to purchase them you’ll need to befriend the corresponding animal. So, to be able to place a flock of wild birds on your lot you’ll need to find a wild bird house and click on it and do some nice social interactions until you get around 40% friendship.

You can see your friendship with these animals at any time in the relationships panel. Once you reach 40 friendship with the birds you’ll unlock the bird home. It’s the same for the wild rabbits, you’ll reach 40 friendship and unlock the wild rabbit home.

Then go purchase the item and place it on your lot so you can be friends with these animals and get gifts from them!
- Fertilize 3 Plants or Oversized Crops
To fertilize regular plants is easy, you can just fertilize them with any other plant or fish. However, for oversized crops it’s a bit different. First off, you need to purchase oversized crop seeds by clicking on the garden patch.

Then you can plant this item and click on the patch again and choose purchase oversized crop fertilizers. There are two types you can buy, either a hassle free fertilizer or a vitality fertilizer but both of these will satisfy this requirement.

You’ll need your sim to be at level 3 or higher of the gardening skill to be able to use this fertilizer! Once you have it you can click on these gardening plots with oversized crops and choose to fertilize them and then pick which one to use.

Stage Three: Critter Keeper

- Give 3 Gifts to Foxes, Rabbits or Birds
A fun part about the wild foxes, rabbits and birds is that you can give them gifts and get gifts in return. To give a gift to a wild animal you’ll go gifting > give gift and pick something from your sim’s inventory. You can give all sorts of things from fruits and veggies to milk to eggs to wool.

You just need to give multiple gifts to these animals! You can also discover the animal’s gifting preferences to make sure that you give them gifts that they will enjoy.
- Craft Animal Treats 5 Times
Animal treats are a great way to interact with your animals and make relationships easier. You can craft these by clicking on a fridge or on the animal shed and choosing create animal treats.

You’ll need to have whatever ingredients are required in your sim’s inventory to craft these. The friendly treat is the easiest because all you need is a single fruit or vegetable.
- Have 1 Perfect Quality Oversized Crop
There are so many factors that go into oversized crops, and it can be hard to get a truly oversized crops. Even if you grow oversized crops you’ll sometimes only get small or medium sized crops, but when you get one of those oversized ones, it’s wonderful.
Some factors that go into the quality of your crops include how well you care for it, the amount of fertilizer you use on the plant, and the level of your sim’s gardening skill.
You’ll see oversized seeds go through phases where you start with 9 plants, then it goes to 4 plants, then two, then there will be a single plant and that one will eventually become oversized but it takes a while.

To make it have perfect quality you should use vitality fertilizer because it will give a boost to the health and to the quality of its yield. You’ll need to re-add the fertilizer around once per day!
- Collect 5 Items from the Bramblewood
This task requires you to collect five different items from the Bramblewood neighbourhood which is located in the top left corner. I searched for a while but could only find either strange or wild nightly mushrooms, and collected them every time I found them to finish this part of the aspiration.

Stage Four: Legendairy

- Reach Maximum Relationship with a Cow, Chicken or Llama
The final stage of this aspiration starts with your sim needing to reach 100% relationship with either their cow, chicken or llama. To do this you just need to make sure that your animal is well cared for by making sure they are fed and kept clean.
You can feed them friendly treats then do a bunch of friendly interactions with them to grow your relationship faster.
- Receive 3 Gifts from Rabbits or Birds
The best part about being friends with wild animals is that you can get gifts from them often. When you have a good relationship you can go click on these animals and go into the gifting menu and choose take gift offered by animal.

Your sim will get a notification telling you what kind of gift they were given and you just need to do this three times to satisfy this requirement.
- Win a Competition in Henford-on-Bagley’s Finchwick Fair
Each saturday in Henford-On-Bagley there is a different version of the Finchwick Fair. Each event has different competitions that your sim can enter and you need to submit the highest quality items to make it happen.
- Finchwick’s Garden Fair: Crops and Pie competitions OR oversized crop competition
- Finchwick’s Cow Fair: Cow and Milk competitions
- Finchwick’s Llama Fair: Llama and Wool competitions
To win these competitions you need to bring the highest quality items. If you’re entering the cow or llama competitions you’ll need to bring the happiest animals who are well taken care of! If you enter the oversized crop competition you’ll want to bring the truly large items that are perfect quality.

My sim entered the garden fair where there was a regular crops competition. I decided to prepare by purchasing rare seed packs and planting orchids and working on them until they were perfect and entered those.

Nature Conversationalist Reward Trait
When your sim manages to finish the sims 4 country caretaker aspiration they’ll be given the nature conversationalist reward trait.
This trait’s description reads “Nature conversationalist sims have improved relationships with animals, allowing their animals to live longer, happier lives. Rabbits and birds will bring them more gifts and they can interact with plants in unique ways, receiving more yield from harvests. They will also receive free grocery delivery, and when residing in Henford-On-Bagley, a discount on their bills.”
