How to Win The Chicken Competition in The Sims 4
If you want to get all the village fair ribbons you’ll need to get first place in the chicken competition in The Sims 4.
This competition happens at The Finchwick Fair that comes with The Sims 4: Cottage Living and lets your sim enter their best chickens to win!
How to Enter The Chicken Competition
You can enter the chicken competition at The Finchwick Chicken Fair which happens every few weeks on a Saturday between 3:30 and 9:30PM. The judging doesn’t happen until after the hair has finished, so you’ll be stuck there until after 10.

You’ll want to make sure that you bring your chicken to the competition. To do this you’ll click on your chicken and go to actions > put in inventory. You’ll find the chicken in your inventory and can travel to Finchwick without worry.

You’ll then get to the fair and on the left side you’ll see a bunch of stands with chickens on the signs. You’ll click on those and choose submit entry and a menu will open where you can choose your chicken.

Once submitting you’ll just need to wait around until judging happens after 10 PM.
Hack: If you have multiple people in your sim’s household you can enter competitions once per sim! This means you have a higher chance of winning.
How to Win The Chicken Competition in The Sims 4
There are many factors that go into having a sim win the chicken competition including a good relationship, the chicken being well cared for, and submitting the more rare chicken types.
Growing a Relationship with Your Chicken
A part of the judging is the chicken’s happiness and that actually includes your sim’s relationship with the chicken. You’ll want to socialize with the chicken as much as you can so you can grow that relationship!

Keeping Their Needs High
Before heading to The Finchwick Chicken Fair you’ll want to make sure that you fully care for your chicken. This means they need to be well fed, socialized and clean before heading out.

Submitting Golden or Evil Chickens
The best thing you can do to try and get first place is submit a rare golden chicken or an evil chicken. You can have your sim turn their chicken gold by given them a Golden Treat which you can craft with the following ingredients:
- Honey or Cowberry Jam
- Golden Egg
If you have a golden chicken you can even have them lay golden eggs each day that are the best thing for the egg competition.

A well-cared for regular hen can also lay golden eggs if they are good friends with the sim and are also have high needs and a clean chicken coop.
You can also submit an evil chicken which has a higher chance of winning than regular chickens. This chicken can be hatched from a hatchable obsidian egg or you can turn a chicken into an evil chicken with a midnight treat.

Note: I had a household where two sisters both submitted chickens. One did a golden chicken and the other did an evil chicken (both with same friendship and happiness) and the evil chicken won first place!
Being Judged at the Chicken Competition
Throughout the fair you’ll see the town mayor walking around and judging each person’s submission. If you want to live a riskier life you can click on the mayor and choose attempt to bribe judge for 250 simoleons.

It’s scary, because this can backfire. However, if your entry isn’t good enough to win on your own you can click that and see what happens!
The judging will take place after the event is over and you’ll get notifications to see how you did. There are two notifications, the Finchwick Fair Competition Result and the Finchwick Fair Reward.

When my sim won first place they were given the following rewards:
- 1 Cowplant Berry
- 1 First place Chicken Competition Ribbon

The first place ribbon is awesome because it’s part of the village fair ribbons collection which is one of the hardest in the game to finish.
