This super fun aspiration has your sim having lots of children and wanting to be besties with them all!
The sim even wants to have grandchildren and be friends with them too!
Domestic Bonus Trait
A sim who starts with a family aspiration is going to get the domestic bonus trait. The description for this trait reads “Domestic sims will see their familial relationships grow stronger faster.”
Having this bonus trait is clutch because most of this aspiration is just being friends with your sim’s children and grandchildren. Their relationships will grow so quick!
Best Traits for The Sims 4 Big Happy Family Aspiration
If you want to have an easier time finishing this aspiration you should consider your sim’s traits. A sim who hates children will struggle with this one, so you can put traits like these on your sim:
- Family Oriented: Sims with the family oriented trait are going to enjoy being around their children more and get happy moodlets from it.
- Domestic: This is the trait you get when you start your sim with a family aspiration. This makes it easier to become friends with your sims kids.
- Outgoing: Outgoing sims enjoy being social more and most of this aspiration is just being friends with your kids and grandkids.
- Fertile: This is a reward trait from the satisfaction points store that you purchase for 3,000 points. This will make it easier to have multiple kids so your sim doesn’t have to suffer through multiple pregnancies.
You can also add the following lot traits to your sim’s house to make finishing the aspiration easier:
- On Ley Line: This lot trait comes with The Sims 4: City Living and increases your sim’s ability to have multiple babies at once.
- Convivial: This trait makes it easier to gain the charisma skill which can help your sims build relationships faster.
Stages of The Big Happy Family Aspiration
There are four stages of this aspiration for your sims to work through. With each stage you’ll get different tasks and when you complete a task your sim will get more satisfaction points.
Stage One: Readily a Parent
- Become an Adult
The first thing your sim needs to do is be an adult. This is easy peasy! All you need to do is have the sim age up from teen to young adult or create a young adult or older sim in create-a-sim.
- Spend §1000 on Kids’ Stuff
We all want to be prepared for when we have children, right? Use this part of the aspiration as a way to prepare a super cute nursery or bedroom for your sim’s child.
Any items that are in the children’s menu (including infants and toddlers too) will apply to this and count toward the §1000!
Stage Two: Caregiver
The next thing you need to do is read to your sim’s child for 2 hours. To do this you first need to have a child level or toddler level book. You can click on a bookcase and open it to see if you have any, if you don’t you’ll need to purchase them.
You can purchase books by clicking on a bookcase and choosing purchase books and sort by children’s books and purchase any of them. The book will appear in the bookcase and you can open up the bookcase and drag it into your sim’s inventory.
From there you can click on the book in the inventory and read to your child! Do this for two total hours and it will satisfy this need.
Next, your sim needs to become a parent. You have a few options to do this:
- Create a child for your sim in create-a-sim
- Have a child through woohoo
- Have a child through science on the phone without woohoo
- Adopt a child through your sim’s phone
Any of these child options will satisfy the need for your sim to become a parent.
- Socialize With Your Child 10 Times
Socializing with your child is easy, you just need to click on any of your children and do social interactions. Make sure these are friendly interactions so your sim can keep their relationships high with their kids.
Stage Three: Loving Guardian
- Be a Parent to a Child with 3 Friends
When you have a big happy family you want your kids to also be cool and have friends! This means that you need to work on the relationships your child has with other sims.
Ideally these will be other children but you can have it be satisfied with your child having other adult friends too.
To make friends for your child you can start by clicking on them when they’re at school and telling them to socialize so they can have child-aged sims they can invite over. Sometimes, kids will even come home from school with your child too and you should work hard on these relationships.
You can also get your kids to spend weekends at the park to meet other kids they can be friends with!
Just being friends with your family works too, my sim had this satisfied when their child was friends with both parents and their sister.
- Be Friends With 3 of Your Children
The big part of the sims 4 big happy family aspiration is being friends with your sim’s children. Since it says you need to be friends with 3 children you have to have at least three children with this sim.
Being friends with your children will be so easy if you have that domestic bonus trait. You can just do some friendly interactions and spend time with your children to be friends. Just make sure you keep that relationship up even after you’ve reached this!
- Have a Child Get Married
The last part of this section is to have your child get married to another sim. You’ll need your child to be at young adult or higher age to get married.
You’ll want to have your sim’s child find someone who isn’t married (unless you want to break up couples and be mean) and start growing a relationship.
Start by building a friendship with them so your romantic interactions have a higher chance of success when you start doing them! You just need to build that romantic relationship until the propose option appears and then have a wedding!
When your child gets married you can either move them out with their partner or have their partner move in. If you have the space you may want to keep them in your household so you can be friends with their children easier for the next part.
Stage Four: Big Happy Family
- Socialize With Your Child or Grandchild 10 Times
This part just wants you to keep chatting with your children or grandchildren by doing friendly social interactions. You can do this super easily!
- Have 4 Grandchildren
This is a part that will be slightly harder because it’s going to take a long time to achieve. Your sims will need their children to have children four times!
Pro Tip: Use the potion of youth to have your sim stay alive longer! You can purchase this from the reward store and when your sim drinks it they will reset their current life stage so they can stay alive longer to have four grandchildren.
There are some hacks you can use to do this to get your sim’s child to have multiple babies at once, here are some ways you can influence multiples:
- Add the On Ley Line lot trait to their home (City Living)
- Purchase the Fertile reward trait for both of the parents from the reward store
- Drink the Elixir of Fertility from the herbalism skill (Outdoor Retreat)
- Get a fertility massage (Spa Day)
Having multiple babies at once is great because you won’t have to wait through as many pregnancies to have the grandchild number grow to four.
- Become Good Friends With 4 Children or Grandchildren
The final part of this aspiration is to be good friends with 4 of your children or grandchildren. Easy peasy! Your sim already has a good relationship and is friends with 3 of their children so just keep working on those relationships to get to good friends.
Or, work on relationships with your grandchildren once you have them, but that will take longer because you need to wait until they age up to start doing real interactions.
Matriarch or Patriarch Reward Trait
If you manage to get your sim to finish the sims 4 big happy family aspiration your sim will get either the matriarch or patriarch reward trait.
This reward trait’s description reads “Matriarchs/Patriarchs provide skill boosts whenever they are around their children.”
This trait is so useful because the children will get a skill gain boost any time they are in the same room as their child. Imagine how many skills your kids can max with this trait!
