The Sims 4 Archery Skill Guide
New skills are so much fun to play around with and we just got the Sims 4 Archery Skill!
This skill comes to your game with The Sims 4: Adventure Awaits and lets your sim do competitions with other sims.
What is Archery Good For?
There isn’t really much you can do with archery in the game, it’s not a great way to earn an income or anything. However, your sim will look super cool doing it and you can unlock new clothing items and fun bows.
How to Gain The Sims 4 Archery Skill
To gain the archery skill you’ll need to find an archery board around the world, or you can purchase the Bullseye! Archery Target for 315 simoleons.
You can place this item and click on it and get your sim to practice archery.
Your sim will shoot at the board until you tell them to stop and will gain the skill rather quick, since it’s only a five level skill.
Another way you can gain the skill is participating in archery competitions by clicking on the target and choosing start archery competition with and choosing a sim to play against.
The two sims will take turns and one sim will end up victorious! That’s really all the ways you can gain the skill, nothing too wild about it.
Ideal Mood for Archery
For every single skill in the game there is an ideal mood associated with it. For the archery skill you’ll find that the ideal mood is focused and when your sim is focused you’ll see them gain the skill faster than any other mood.
An easy way to get focused is to get your sim to ponder moves on a chess board.
Best Traits for Gaining the Sims 4 Archery Skill
To gain skills faster you’ll want to add specific skills to your sim so they have the best chance. Here’s some traits that can help your sim gain the archery skill:
- Loves the Outdoors: There are archery boards all around the world so having the loves the outdoors trait is nice because most of them are outside! Your sim will get happy moodlets and enjoy being outside.
- Genius: The ideal mood for this skill is focused and a genius sim gets focused moodlets more often. You can use these moodlets to your advantage to gain the skill more quickly.
- Practice Makes Perfect: This trait will start your sim off gaining the skill slowly, however, eventually you’ll start gaining it faster. Plus, this trait has some intense focused moodlets.
How to Cheat The Archery Skill
If you want to cheat this skill you can use stats.set_skill_level skill_archery 5 to max out the skill. If you want a different level of the skill you can change the number at the end to any number from 1-5 to get that level instead.
Levels of the Archery Skill
Since archery is a minor skill you’ll only be needing to gain five levels of it. As you gain it your sim will be able to unlock cool new abilities like archery competitions and bowfishing.

| Level 4 | Your sim can now go bowfishing at fishing spots. They can now mentor other sims in archery. They will also use a fully upgraded bow. A new armguard accessory is now available in create a sim. |
| Level 5 | Your sim is a master archer! They can now attempt to shoot an apple of another sim’s head, if they’re willing to risk it. The Sky Piercer wall decoration is also available in build mode. |
Shooting Apples off Heads
At level 5 of the sims 4 archery skill your sim can ask another sim to let them shoot an apple off of their head.
This is such a silly addition to the game that looks hilarious, and these are the kinds of things that make me love the game.
Mixing Fishing and Archery
When your sim reaches level four of the archery skill they are able to go bowfishing at any regular fishing spot. You’ll click on that spot and choose go bowfishing instead of go fishing.
Your sim will take out a bow and arrow and will aim it at the water and shoot their bow into it. They will catch the same types of fish as regular fishing but just look so much cooler doing it.
Mentoring Archery
When your sim reaches level four of the sims 4 archery skill they can start mentoring! This means that they are able to teach another sim how to do archery and while they are being mentored that sim will gain the skill faster than normal.
You can even mentor kids which is so fun for a nice bonding moment with a parent and child.
