The Sims 4 Ailments Guide
Getting sick is no fun so you need to know everything about sims 4 ailments!
These are a new type of illness coming to the game with The Sims 4: Enchanted by Nature and are unique and weird illness for your sims!
How Do Sims Get Ailments in The Sims 4?
There are actually a few ways your sims can get ailments in the game, all of which are super fun and silly.
The first way is through foraging. Sometimes your sim can have a negative experience when looking for items on the ground and they can catch an ailment through this.

The next way is catching them from other sims. Yup, you heard that right, these ailments are contagious. If your sim spends too much time around another sim who has any of the ailments they can catch them too.
The third way your sim can catch an ailment is through spending time being unbalanced. This is a new system with this pack where your sim needs to lead a balanced life and spend peaceful time in nature and doing things they love.

The final way I’ve found that sims can get ailments is by being cursed with one by a fairy. When a fairy uses their points to purchase the cure or apply ailment perk can add or remove ailments from others.

A fairy sim with this perk can click on another sim and under the fairy menu you’ll find apply ailment. This will open a menu letting you pick any of the ailments give the sim!

I did have a random fairy give my sim an ailment, so this can happen without you doing anything! When you do, the moodlet will say From Fairy Influence so you’ll know how your sim caught it.
How to Remove Ailments
There are actually multiple ways for your sims to get rid of their ailments if you don’t want to be stuck with them for three days. Some cost money, some cost effort, and some are only available to fairies.
How to Remove Ailments With a Naturopath
The very first option you have is to click on the sim who has the ailment and choose Visit Naturopath (ยง1500). This will spend your sim into a rabbit hole and when they return you’ll get a notification that your sim no longer has any ailments.

The best part was that my sim also came home with a Holistic Cure that can cure any of the ailments so you’re protected the next time your sim catches one. The only downfall to this is the price!
How to Remove Ailments with The Apothecary Skill
When your sim starts gaining the apothecary skill they are able to craft their own elixirs and cures for any of the ailments sims can catch. You’ll need to have an apothecary table available to your sim to do this.

When you have a table you’ll see the option to craft which is what you’ll want to press. Each ailment has a different cure you can craft that all require different ingredients to make.
| Ailment | Cure Ingredients |
|---|---|
| Burning Passion | 2 Aura Petal + 2 Sage |
| Emotional Void | 1 Basil + 2 Aura Petal |
| Gnome Lure | 1 Daisy + 2 Lemon |
| Greenie Meanie | 3 Basil + 1 Aura Petal |
| Luck Magnet | 2 Lemon + 1 Aura Petal |
| Simoleon Fever | 1 Daisy + 2 Lemon |
| Creation Impulse | 3 Daisy + 1 Aura Petal |
| Sonic Sinuses | 1 Daisy + 2 Sage |
To get these ingredients you can click on the apothecary table and choose purchase basic apothecary ingredients to buy them or you can click on the ground and choose to forage for apothecary ingredients once you reach level 2. All of the ingredients for the basic cures are available for purchase from the table.
At level 10 of the apothecary skill your sim can craft the Holistic Cure which can cure all ailments as well as remove negative moodlets and fill your sim’s needs.

Once your sim has the correct cure in their inventory you can click on it in their inventory and choose to eat it. This will remove that specific ailment from them. If a sim consumes a cure for an ailment they don’t have they can get a moodlet from that too!

You can also gift cures to other sims by clicking on them and choose apothecary > give elixir and choosing which one to give them that your sim has already crafted. That sim will immediately consume it, so you’ll cure their ailment right away.

How to Remove Ailments as a Fairy in The Sims 4
As a fairy you are able to purchase fairy perks that make your sim so much more interesting. You can purse the cure or apply ailment perk to give other sims ailments or be able to cure them.
If your fairy sim with this perk encounters a sim with an ailment you can click on them and under the fairy menu you’ll find the option to cure ailment. This will immediately cure that sim!

Types of Ailments and What They Do
There are eight ailments total that your sim can get, and each of them has a different impact on your sim. Let’s dig into each individual ailment and what kind of effect it can have on your sim.
Burning Passion
“Your sim feels their temperature rising! A fire is rising up from within and threatens to ignite them… and anything nearby.”

When a sim has this ailment they are going to have a bad time because their sneezes are fire. These sneezes can have two effects.

Either the sim will set themselves on fire (or items around them) or they may get a +5 Flirty moodlet called Burning with Passion. It’s description says “The heat of burning passion burns in your sim’s chest, igniting their flirtatious desires.”

Emotional Void
“Your sim feels like their emotions have been drained away, leaving nothing but an empty void.”

While this +3 Fine moodlet is active, your sim won’t get as many strong emotions. Plus, when they do the Emotional Void they are feeling will be stronger so they’ll spend multiple days just feeling fine. However, if you can stack enough of the same types of moodlets you can overpower it!
Gnome Lure
“Occasionally, your sim catches of whiff of themselves and it is really funky. Whenever they notice this, some unwanted guests arrive – gnomes!”

This is such a weird one, but once in a while when your sim has this ailment they are going to smell themselves. When they do, gnomes will appear!
The gnomes that appear work a lot like the ones from Harvestfest in The Sims 4: Seasons. If the gnomes are good gnomes they’ll have a halo around their head and they’ll be nice. They may fix broken items, clean your home and help with your garden. Plus, from time to time they may drop some seeds that you can plant!
Greenie Meanie
“Gardening creeps into your sim’s thoughts like a vine. It just makes sense, and everything else just makes them angry.”

The greenie meanie ailment gives your sim a +3 angry moodlet that lasts 3 days. They are at risk of dying from anger, so you need to be careful to not let them get any other angry moodlets!
This sim will only want to garden, anything else they do like painting will have lower quality. There will be a slight boost to gaining the gardening skill and to the growth rate of their crops.
Luck Magnet
“Your sim feels like they’re attracting luck from all around. It seems like everyone else has been a little less lucky, but maybe that’s just coincidence.”

When the +3 Happy moodlet is active your sim will have slightly better luck. However, they will make everyone else around them feel less lucky. It can give other sims a sad moodlet about how bad their luck is!

When this ailment is active it is a great time for your sim to look for collectibles, play the lottery if you have The Sims 4: Seasons or do anything else that’s impacted by luck!
Simoleon Fever
“Your sim has heard of a productive cough, but a profitable one? That’s new! This uncomfortable ailment makes them sporadically cough up simoleons.”

This is one of the better ailments to have! Any time your sim coughs during the time that the +3 uncomfortable moodlet is active, you’ll get a small amount of simoleons. Each time this happened for my sim it was less than 100 simoleons but it adds up over 3 days.

Creation Impulse
“Your sim’s thoughts are filled with dreams of crafting. What could they make? What it is, they just know it’s going to be good.”

When this +3 dazed moodlet is active, your sim is going to have a rough time. However, the only thing they’ll enjoy is crafting! This will give your sim a slight boost to the quality of their crafts from painting to woodworking to flower arranging.
If this sim doesn’t do any crafts for a while they’ll get a +3 energized moodlet called creation itch that will only go away if they craft something.

This moodlet will last 12 hours and you can get rid of it by getting your sim to do something creative like painting a picture on an easel. Your sim will also get boosts to crafting skill gains when they have the creation impulse ailment.
Sonic Sinuses

“Your sim’s sneezes have become destructive waves, breaking things around them! Though they can feel this ailment giving them an innate sense of how to fix things.”
When a sim has the sonic sinuses ailment active, you’ll get a moodlet called Sonic Sinuses Ailment. It lets you know that your sim is going to be sneezing a lot and when they sneeze any items around the sim will have the chance of being broken from these wild sneezes.

Thankfully, when your sim works on their handiness skill they are going to get a boost to skill gains. They are also going to be able to fix all broken items faster.
Understanding ailments is so important if you want to have your sim be a naturopath or want to get into making elixirs to become an elixir enthusiast. You’ll want to understand these so you can remove them quick!
