How to Publish Books in The Sims 4
Want your sim to be an author? You’ll need to know how to publish books in The Sims 4!
This is so great and is one of my favourite ways to earn money for my sims.
You can publish a book once and earn money for many days after that, so passive income!
Plus, you need to know how to do this for the bestselling author aspiration too!
Types of Book Publishing
Something that you need to understand is the three levels of book publishing that are available to your sims:
- Self-Publish (Level 2 of Writing Skill)
- Sell to Publisher (Level 5 of Writing Skill)
- Submit Book Copy to Literary Digest (Level 9 of Writing Skill)
Self-publishing earns the lowest amount of royalties so it’s not worth the time. You’ll sell most of your books to publishers to earn royalties.
You can only submit one book per week to Literary Digest so you want to save books that are higher quality for this so you can maximize the amount of royalties this is worth.
How to Publish Books in The Sims 4
The first part of publishing books is, of course, to write a book. You just need a computer to do this and you’ll want to choose write > write genre book and choose a genre. At first with the writing skill you’ll only have the children’s book option but you’ll get other options as you go.
Once your book is done you’ll have the option to self-publish your book which isn’t the best option. Eventually as you gain the writing skill and reach level 5 you’ll be able to sell books to publishers will which result in more royalties.
At level 9 of the skill you can even submit one book per week to Literary Digest. This is the most royalty earning version, so save your highest quality books for that!
Maximizing Royalties with Creative Visionary
The higher the quality of your sim’s books, the higher the royalties will be. So, you should do anything you can to maximize your chance of high-quality writing.
The easiest and best thing you can do is purchase the creative visionary reward trait. This is purchased from the reward store for 2,000 satisfaction points.
If you want to cheat to get these points to purchase the trait, just use sims.give_satisfaction_points 2000 and you can buy it.
