Bits and pieces are used to make candles and craft custom furniture with the fabrication machine.

If you want to do anything with the fabrication skill in the game you’re going to need to get your hands on a lot of bits and pieces.

Thankfully, they’re easy to get and there’s even a way to cheat to get lots.

How to Get Bits and Pieces in The Sims 4

When you try to craft a candle or fabricate an item without bits and pieces you’re going to struggle. Thankfully, there are tons of ways you can get these items in the game.

The first way is to dive for deals in a dumpster. This interaction will send your sim inside a dumpster and they’ll come back out with stuff. Sometimes this is broken appliances, sometimes it’s dyes to create colorful candles and sometimes its bits and pieces.

The best part is that anything you find in these dumpsters can be recycled using the Guntdach Home Recycler that you can purchase for §845. This item lets you put in any item and get bits and pieces and money in return depending on the item.

To use this item you’ll need things to recycle. You can put pretty much anything in the recycler but a great way to get items is to dumpster dive for deals or you can choose sort out recycles to get a pile of recyclable trash in your sim’s inventory.

To recycle with this machine you’ll click recycle from inventory and a menu will open. This menu will show you everything in your sim’s personal inventory and household inventory that is eligible for recycling. You can change the quantity you’d like to recycle and click the check.

Your sim will walk up to the machine and start recycling. When they’re done you’ll see little green numbers appear over your sim’s picture in the bottom left corner. You’ll see that you get bits and pieces and for some items, money!

Pro Tip: Hover over your sim’s household funds in the bottom left corner to see how many bits and pieces you currently have!

How to Cheat to Get Bits and Pieces

If you want to get bits and pieces without effort you can cheat them. To do this you need to first enable cheats by opening the cheat box and typing in testingcheats true and hitting enter.

Then you’ll need a fabricator in your household and you hold down shift and click on it and choose give bits and pieces.

This will give your household 50 bits and 50 pieces. You can do this an unlimited amount of times.
