How to Get Emotion Potions for Apothecary in The Sims 4
To really practice apothecary you’ll need to get emotion potions for apothecary in The Sims 4.
Unfortunately, you can’t just purchase emotion potions from the reward store, these aren’t the same kind of potions.
All of the information in this requires The Sims 4: Enchanted by Nature to be in your game!
How to Get Emotion Potions in The Sims 4
There are four main ways I’ve found to get emotion potions in the enchanted by nature universe. Each of them have different requirements, some needing you to have money and some needing you to have items to craft with!
Buying Them From Apothecary Todd
The first way is that you can purchase them by going to the Sprucederry Grove neighbourhood of Innisgreen. You’ll be looking for Apothecary Todd’s Cures & Elixirs shop which is a small stall and when you find it you can click on it and choose purchase apothecary items.

This is a rotating stock situation so they won’t always have the same items for sale, however, I did find that Todd was very likely to have negative emotion potions more often. This includes, scared, tense, embarrassed, etc.

Harvesting Moody Shrubs
The next option you have is to collected bottle emotions from a Moody Shrub. These are both able to be grown on your sim’s own lot as well as found in the wild.
You can find one of these plants in the wild in the Everdew neighbourhood of Evergreen by travelling to the Starsong Lounge lot. If you go to the left when facing this lot you’ll find a wild moody shrub under a tree right beside a large mushroom.

You can hover over the plant at any time to see if its ready for harvest and click on it and choose collect bottled emotion. Your sim will get a notification telling you how many emotion potions and which type they were given. You can collect these once every 24 hours.

If you have your sim gain the natural living skill they’ll be able to forage for items. If you choose to forage for plants you may eventually get a Moody Shrub Seed that you can plant. Once it’s fully grown you’ll be able to click on it and collect bottled emotions from it too!

If you have a bottled emotion in your sim’s inventory you can use it to change the mood of this plant. It’s natural state is random, so it will give you whatever bottled emotions that it wants. However, if you give it an emotion potion you’ll be able to change it to whatever you want based on the potions you have.

When the plant has a specific emotion, it will give you three of that emotion’s potions every 24 hours. This is great for collecting specific potions for making certain elixirs.

Pro Tip: Be careful with these! A sim around a moody shrub with a specific emotion set will get moodlets from it, so it can be dangerous to add an angry shrub because it could lead to a sim’s death!
Bottling Them With The Emotion Stone
When your sim reaches level six of the apothecary skill they are going to unlock the ability to craft an emotion stone. This stone lets your sims bottle the emotions of other sims and of themselves.

Once you craft this item it’ll show up in the apothecary table’s inventory and you can drag it into your sim’s inventory. Once in there you can click on it and choose bottle emotion to bottle your own sim’s emotion.

You can also click on another sim and go under the apothecary menu and choose to bottle the other sim’s emotion.

When you do either of these the emotion potion will go into your sim’s inventory. However, bottling other sim’s emotions can have a negative impact on your relationship, especially if they have a fear of magic.
You can only bottle some emotions, this doesn’t include emotions like bored or fine.
Crafting Them on The Apothecary Table
At level 3 of the apothecary skill you’ll unlock the ability to craft emotion potions on the apothecary table. At level 3 it will require you to have three other potions in your sim’s inventory to craft these. For example, a positive potion like confident requires you to have 3 other positive emotion potions in your inventory.
- Positive Emotions
- Confident
- Energized
- Focused
- Flirty
- Happy
- Inspired
- Playful
- Negative Emotions
- Angry
- Scared
- Bored
- Embarrassed
- Sad
- Tense
At level 7 of the apothecary skill, your sim will require less ingredients to craft emotion potions. It’ll change from 3 of the same type (positive or negative) to only 2.
The best thing happens at level 10 of the apothecary skill, this is when you can craft emotion potions for only the cost of one other potion. This is regardless of type!
This means at level 10 you can craft a scared emotion potion by bottling a happy potion and using that which makes it so much easier to get the negative ones bottled.
Bottling Moondrop Springs’ Emotions
If you travel to the Everdew neighbourhood in Innisgreen, you’ll find a very beautiful body of water in the top left corner. This is actually where the final stage to become a fairy occurs so you know it’s a magical place.
If you click on Moondrop springs you can ask the spring how they’re feeling to find out the mood, you can ask to change the mood and if your luck and balance is good it should work, and finally you can click to bottle springs emotion potion.

Bottle Them as a Fairy With Abilities
There are so many fairy abilities for you to purchase for your sim and one of them lets you bottle emotions. This is a two-tier ability, where the first one lets you bottle the emotions of the fairy who has it and the second tier lets you bottle the emotions of of other sims.

To use this you’ll either click on your sim (tier 1) or another sim (tier 2) and go to the fairy menu and you’ll find an option to bottle emotion. You’ll get a notification telling you that the potion is in your sim’s inventory.

The best part about using a fairy for this is that you can also purchase an ability to sway emotions of other sims. So if you need a scared emotion potion you can first sway them to be scared, then bottle it right after!
Now that you know how to get emotion potions for apothecary in The Sims 4 you can have your sim become an elixir enthusiast which is so much fun! Plus, you can easily change a sim’s emotions with this!
