At any time your sim is able to click on the ground and choose forage and they will find random items like fruits and vegetables. This uses the natural living skill and is available right away.

However, the ability to forage specifically for apothecary ingredients your sim will first need to reach level two of the apothecary skill. You can gain this skill on an apothecary table by crafting items or by purchasing an apothecary skill book and getting your sim to read it.

Once you reach level two you can click on any grass out in the world and click forage for and forage for apothecary ingredients.

When doing this you’ll get items like tulips, apples, aura petals, lumps of moss, sage and more. It’s important to note that your sim’s current luck can have a huge impact on their finds, you’ll get more rare ingredients if you have high luck.
