Where to Find Each Insect Location in The Sims 4

Finding all of the bugs in Outdoor Retreat can be hard but I’ve found each insect location in The Sims 4.

These bugs from The Sims 4: Outdoor Retreat are elusive little buggers and it’s one of the harder collections to finish.

Important Note: Each insect has multiple spots where you can find them. They may be in one place one night or day and not there the next! So this list isn’t going to show you exactly where you can find them guaranteed, because it can be different per day, but it will show you some places where they’ve been found!

Hack for Finding Insects

Before we jump in to each location, there’s one thing you can do that helps find these bugs. When in Granite falls you can click on your sim and choose go hiking.

When you do this your sim will start walking around the area in a very specific way. Why? Well they actually walk past a bunch of the bug spawn locations! Send them hiking and then look around intensely while they do it.

Common Insects

Bee

Your sim can catch bees near the bathroom that’s located in the campground area of Granite Falls.

Blue Morpho Butterfly

You can find blue morpho butterflies right by the bramble exit in the deep woods in Granite Falls. If this butterfly isn’t there you can catch a Luna moth in this spot.

There’s a spot to the right of the Hermit’s house between some trees where this butterfly can spawn too. It’s the same with that one, where if it’s not there it’ll be the Luna moth there instead making this one super easy to find.

Fire Ant

Fire ants can be found near the flowers beside the three wood benches around a campfire near the large statue in the middle of the camping and lodging area.

I found three separate instances of fire ants around this statue area in different locations, so it’s a great place to look. Just be aware that sims can have a problem catching these and can get uncomfortable moodlets when they fail to catch them.

Firefly

Fireflies are found in the dark and are so easy to see since they are flowing. You can find a firefly at night right outside the entrance to the building in Granite Falls Forest.

You can also find them in the forest outside of the bathroom and horseshoe area.

You can catch fireflies in the deep woods on the waterfall side of the area. You’ll walk against the edge away from the waterfall until you see a rock coming out from the side and between that and a large tree you can find fireflies. Fireflies are caught in this area at night.

Jezebel Butterfly

Jezebel butterflies have a few spawn locations and are colourful so they’re pretty easy to see. A good spot you can find a jezebel butterfly is in front of the small red rental lot in Granite Falls.

Katydid

A katydid is a common bug that’s actually easy to find but can be hard to see since they’re green and will appear in grassy areas. You may find a katydid in the Granite Falls Forest sort-of near the fishing spot.

The easiest place to find this bug for me was in front of the entrance to the deep woods in Granite Falls Forest.

Ladybug

You may find ladybugs right next to the two-story light brown rental lot beside the middle tree.

Luna Moth

You can find a Luna moth in the deep woods between three trees to the right of the Hermit’s house. If the Luna moth isn’t there you can catch a blue morpho butterfly in this spot.

Like I said before, you can also find this insect right by the exit that will bring you back to the Granite Falls Forest as well! If the Luna moth isn’t there, the Blue Morpho Butterfly will be there instead.

Mosquito

I found a bunch of swarms of mosquitos in the world, mostly in the camping area. You’ll see a swarm of like fifteen of them which can be surprisingly hard to miss. You may find mosquitoes behind and to the left of the brown and red rental lot in Granite Falls.

You may also find them near the water’s edge by the large red and brown rental lot with the green roof.

Stink Bug

Stink bugs can be caught be Granite Falls forest close to the fishing spot (not the waterfall fishing spot, the other one). They appeared for me all over the forest but only at night which made them hard to see.

There’s a chance your sim can’t catch these because they’ll let off a green smoke, hence the stink bug name. So you may need to have more than one of these collected to actually get them.

Termite

Termites can be hard to see because they’re small and dark. You’ll find these near large trees in the dark in Granite Falls Forest.

Uncommon Insects

Dragonfly

Dragonflies can be found right in front of the waterfall in the deep woods during the day. You’ll see them beside a tree and rocks that are to the left of the fishing spot by the waterfall.

You can also find these in Granite Falls forest near the fishing spot by the waterfall.

Jewel Beetle

You can find a jewel beetle in the deep woods! By the waterfall to the right is a group of rocks in a oval-ish shape. You can find jewel beetles walking around there!

They can also be found in other areas in the deep woods too!

Locust

You can find a locusts in Granite Falls forest. If you find the bathroom and horse shoe area and keep walking toward the edge of the world, you can find these.

Mantis

Every time I found a Mantis it was surrounded by grass, so it was hard to find since they’re green. You can find a mantis near some large rocks in Granite Falls Forest.

Monarch Butterfly

You can catch a monarch butterfly between two trees to the left of the entrance to the building in Granite Falls Forest.

Walking Stick

You can find a walking stick in the deep woods! If you go to the waterfall and walk away from it across the edge to the very last area with some trees and random bushes, you can get at walking stick there.

I found another walking stick in the deep woods beside the waterfall within the oval of rocks and flowers. This is the same location where you can find a jewel beetle during the day.

Rare Insects

Dragon Dragonfly

The dragon dragonfly can be found beside a large plant right next to the waterfall in Granite Falls Forest!

Dust Spirits

These can be found at night close to the (non-waterfall) fishing spot in Granite Fall Forest. They’ll also pop up in other areas in this park at night, but they’re kind of hard to see!

Rainbow Firefly

You can find these in Granite Falls Forest to the left of the fishing spot (the non-waterfall one). You can also just find them in random areas in Granite Falls Forest. It’s nice because they are green red and blue and glowing so they’re easy to see.

Will-O-The-Wisp

Will-O-The-Wisp can be found in the deep woods after dark. One spot where you can find them is in surrounded by trees to the left of the water fall (if you’re looking at the waterfall).

There you have it, that’s exactly where I found each insect location in The Sims 4. Just a note, these aren’t the only places you can find each bug. There are dozens of bug spawn locations so you’ll find these in so many more spots than what’s listed.
