How to Contribute Knowledge on a Research Archive Machine

Being able to contribute knowledge on a research archive machine is a great way to make money for smart sims.

When a sim in The Sims 4: Discover University has a high level of a skill and level 6 of research and debate they can do this awesome task!

How to Contribute Knowledge on a Research Archive Machine

There are two things your sim needs to be able to contribute knowledge, the first thing is a research archive machine. You can purchase these in build mode (but they’re expensive) or you can find one at the library located in the middle of the world.

Your sim will also need level 6 of the research & debate skill before they unlock this ability. This skill is gained through researching topics on that same machine or using the debate podium.

Once your sim reaches level 6 you can go to the research archive machine and click contribute knowledge and then pick any skill that your sim has a high level in.

Your sim will hold onto the mouse and stare at the computer (it’s weird) and icons in green and blue will float from their head to the computer.

When the process is done you’ll get a notification letting you know that you’ve added to the pool of data and it will tell you how much money you’ve earned.

Sims with higher skill levels will get paid more money! If your sim has finished the academic aspiration and has the higher education reward trait they’ll earn even more money from doing this!

How to Avoid Death From Contributing Knowledge

One of my favourite things about The Sims 4 is that they love to add really weird death types for sims and contributing knowledge is one of them.

If you ever see your sim getting a Dazed +40 moodlet after contributing knowledge, you should pay attention! This moodlet is called Mentally Drained and says “Contributing mental energy is draining. Continuing to do so could have severe repercussions…”

If you decide to contribute knowledge again, your sim is going to have a bad time. The icons going from your sims head to the computer that are usually blue and green will be red and yellow and you’ll get the dreaded Your sim is dying from overexertion notification!

So, to avoid this death type you need to pay attention to when your sim starts feeling dazed and stop contributing knowledge when you see it.

Contributing knowledge is awesome because you are now able to finish the academic aspiration and make some money through this fun task, just make sure to avoid death!
