How to Catch Fish Using Bait in The Sims 4
If you want bigger, better fish you should catch fish using bait in The Sims 4.
It’s the easiest and best way to get higher quality, fatter fish that your sim can catch with ease!
How to Catch Fish Using Bait in The Sims 4
The first thing you need to do is reach level 3 of the fishing skill because you don’t unlock bait as an ability until then. Once you get to level 3 and you click on a fishing spot you’ll see fish with bait as an option and when you click this a menu will open so you can choose which type of bait to use.

You’ll need to re-bait (by clicking fish with bait again) after catching a fish, eat bait only lasts me one catch, which is annoying but its worth it for a bigger catch.
You can have a small garden in your sim’s home and just grow a few plants and each day harvest them to use as bait! Or just use the fish you already caught to catch more fish, it’s up to you!
Types of Bait
There are a few different things your sims can use for bait and I’ve found different types of fish prefer different categories of bait. The categories of bait include:
- Other fish your sim caught
- Plants (i.e, fruits, vegetables, flowers)
- Frogs
Catching fish is a really fun thing to do and is a cool collection to finish, so knowing you can use bait can open a whole new world for your sims! Plus, now you can finish the angling ace aspiration and be a pro.
