A sim with a high charisma skill is going to have more positive and successful social interactions. They can ask sims for loans too!
You’ll also need this skill for careers like entertainer and politician!
How to Gain The Charisma Skill
There are a few ways you can gain the charisma skill with your sim. The first way is to read charisma books which you can purchase through any bookcase. There are three books that you’ll need to purchase as you increase your skill.
- Charisma Vol 1: Diplomacy for Dummies
- Charisma Vol 2: The Science of Diplomacy
- Charisma Vol 3: The Art of Diplomacy
The second thing you can do is practice speech in a mirror. You can do this on any mirror in your sims house and they’ll do this for a long time unless you stop them. Just make sure they’re confident first!
You also gain the charisma skill any time your sim is interacting with others, which makes this a skill that all sims gain. You’ll want to keep the conversation light if charisma is your goal, doing things in the mean category will make sims not want to talk to you.
Best Mood to Practice Charisma
The thing about The Sims 4 is that everything is impacted by your sims mood, it was one of the biggest selling points of the game. So, it’s important to understand what moods are great for practicing skills like charisma so you can get skill gains more quickly.
The absolute best mood for practicing charisma is confident. This will boost skill gains which is awesome because it makes everything move along slightly quicker.
You can easily become confident with your sims by getting them to brush their teeth at any sink and using the psych yourself up interaction with a mirror.
Best Traits for Charismatic Sims
The traits you choose for your sims have a huge impact on them so you want to make sure you choose ones that make sense for your goals. If you want a sim with a high charisma skill you should try out the following traits:
- Self-Assured: These sims get confident way more often and you can easily use this to your advantage
- Outgoing: A sim with a high charisma skill is going to want to interact with other sims, so you want them to enjoy it!
You should also consider adding lot traits to your sim’s house to improve skill gains. To improve on your charisma skill you can add:
- Convivial: This lot trait improves your sim’s charisma skill gain speed as well as the comedy skill and the mischief skill.
- Peace and Quiet: Comes with The Sims 4: City Living and makes your sims gain skills quicker from skill books
- Study Spot: Comes with The Sims 4: Discover University and gives a bonus gain to all skills
How to Cheat The Sims 4 Charisma Skill
Thankfully we don’t need to spend too much time on this skill if we don’t want to and can cheat it instead. With your cheats enabled you just need to type in stats.set_skill_level Major_Charisma 10 to max out the skill.
If you want your sim to have five levels of the skill you can just change the 10 to 5 instead.

| Level 10 | Your sim can now upload viral video and can also call boss to negotiate promotion. |
Benefits of Gaining This Skill
There are three main benefits of gaining the charisma skill in my eyes and all of them are super fun and unlock new gameplay opportunities for you and your sims.
1. New Interactions
There are a bunch of fun new interactions you can unlock as you gain the skill that will improve relationships. You can have a smooth recovery when you upset another sim, you can sweet talk sims and even call your boss to ask for a promotion in your sim’s career.
2. Relationship Gains
When a sim has a high level of charisma you’re going to see their relationship bars increase faster than sims who aren’t as charismatic. This can be awesome if you want to have lots of friends or are trying to speed run a woohoo every sim challenge in the game.
3. Free Money
The best interaction you can get with charisma is asking sims for loans. These should be paid back if you want the other sim to like you but you could… not? And keep the money forever!
Charisma Skill Mentorship
When a sim maxes out their skill they are able to start mentoring another sim which will give the sim who is being mentored skill boosts while they’re being mentored. This is great for when you have kids and teens in your sim’s household so they can get a boost on their life skills.
If you have The Sims 4: Business & Hobbies installed in your game you have the option to mentor for money. You can click on a sim and choose mentor, click on a mirror and choose mentor or click on a sim when they are already practicing a speech and choose to mentor for money.
Your sim will get paid §80 per hour when at level 5, and §430 per hour at level 10.
Note: This doesn’t work for sims in your household because… it’s your money… and you’d be paying yourself.
Social Media Interactions
With The Sims 4 Charisma skill your sim is able to start a social media profile. Since this whole thing came with the base game it’s very 2014 interactions, not really applicable to modern social media. Like, upload a viral video isn’t something you can just do!
If you have The Sims 4: Get Famous installed in your game, you can use these social media interactions together with that pack to get yourself famous!
Gaining The Sims 4 Charisma Skill With Other Packs
You can also earn the charisma skill with other packs for the game! There are small ways to earn the skill, but honestly none of them are as good as just practicing a speech in a mirror, the gold old fashioned way!
Discover University
There are two ways you can gain this skill with Discover University. The first way is by using the research & debate skill and the Electromagnetic Research Archive Machine.
You’ll click on this machine and choose research and choose The Power of Charisma. Your sim will sit down and they’ll actually gain the research & debate skill at the same time as charisma.
The other way you can gain the charisma skill is by taking a skill class at one of the Universities. You’ll first need to find the building where you can do this:
- Foxbury Institute Campus > Go to Larry’s Lagoon
- University of Britechester > Go to Darby’s Den
These classes cost §250 and will take a few hours to complete, but is a nice passive way to earn the skill if you have the money.
