The Sims 4 Social Skill Guide (Child)

The sims 4 social skill is all about learning how to talk to others and be able to ask for what you want!

These sims are going to be able to unlock new fun interactions and chat with their favourite giant teddy bears.

How to Get a Jumpstart on The Sims 4 Social Skill

Did you know that the skills a toddler has can have an impact on their skills when they’re a child? Yup! You can actually start with a few levels of the social skill if you worked hard on your toddler’s communication skill.

If a toddler ages up with a maxed communication skill they will start with almost 3 levels of the social skill. If they age up with level 3 they’ll get almost 2 levels.

How to Gain The Sims 4 Social Skill

Your sims are going to gain the social skill fastest by just chatting with others from their family or friends or strangers. However, there are ways your kids can gain this skill solo if everyone else is busy or its the middle of the night.

The first way to gain this skill alone is to click on a computer and choose chat in kids chatroom. This is not a scary chat room like they used to be, your kids will be safe, promise.

The next thing is to get one of those giant stuffed animals in your sim’s house. You can choose a bear, dinosaur or unicorn and all of them are so cute. Chatting with these bears and telling them stories is a great way to gain the skill but isn’t super quick.

At level two of the social skill your sim will unlock the option to watch funny videos on sim.tv which to me is an odd way to gain the social skill. But I guess their learning about social norms from others? Anyway, easy way to get this skill and improve their fun need.

Your sims are able to research idioms on the computer at level six of the skill. This gains the skill decently fast but sims don’t like to do this for too long and can get bored!

Levels of the Sims 4 Social Skill

There are ten levels of the social skill that your children can gain. As they improve in their social skills they’ll get fun new interactions like watching videos or researching idioms.

Level 1Children can now use press to talk on talking toys.
Level 2Children now watch Sim.tv on a computer.
Level 3Children will have more success in social interactions.
Level 4Children will sometimes get better moodlets from watching sims.tv on a computer.
Level 5Children can get better moodlets from playing with a teddy bear.
Level 6Children can use talk with giant stuffed animal to reduce their sadness. They can also research idioms at a computer.
Level 7Children can now talk about school with other sims.
Level 8Children’s social smarts are getting better everyday, their social interactions will be more successful.
Level 9Children can use talk with giant stuffed animal to reduce embarrassment, stress, and uncomfortableness.
Level 10Children can now mock other sim’s moods!

How to Cheat The Social Skill

The best thing about The Sims is that you don’t have to grind through skills if you don’t necessarily want to. You have the option to cheat all skills including social.

The cheat you want to know is stats.set_skill_level Skill_Child_Social 10 to max out the social skill. You can also change the number 10 at the end to any level of the skill to get that level instead.

Gaining The Charisma Skill with Social

The best thing is that with an update your sims are now able to gain some adult skills at the same times as their child fundamental skills. When your sims are working on their social skill they can gain the charisma skill at the same time.

The charisma skill is going to gain slower than the social skill, but even having just a few levels of this skill when you age up is life changing.

Using Social Skills to Tame Emotions

Being a child is a stressful time of your life. Seriously, there is so much going on, your body is changing and you’re trying to understand the world and that can throw your sims into tons of different emotions.

Thankfully, gaining the social skill gives ways to help reduce your sim’s negative emotions. At level six of the social skill your sim will be able to chat with the giant stuffed animals to reduce their sadness emotions. This can be great when sims pass away in their family!

If just decreasing sadness isn’t enough you can get more at level 9. At the ninth level of the skill your sim will be able to chat with the same giant stuffed animal and it will reduce their tense, uncomfortable and embarrassed emotions.

This is awesome because bad emotions from a long day at school can make it hard to get homework and other tasks done, so get rid of them by chatting with your favourite bears.
