This aspiration comes with The Sims 4: Lovestruck and focuses on learning more about love.
Alluring Bonus Trait
When a sim starts their life with any of the romantic aspirations like this one (or base game ones like serial romantic) they’ll be given the alluring bonus trait. This trait makes it so these sims have a better time with romantic interactions!
Best Traits for The Sims 4 Romantic Explorer Aspiration
There are so many traits to choose from but you should pick them strategically. Here are some traits that can be helpful for this aspiration:
- Romantic: Sims with the romantic trait are going to get flirty moodlets more often than others!
- Lovebug: Sims who are a love bug are always in the mood for love and can even propose to other sims early.
- Beguiling: This is a reward trait you can purchase with satisfaction points. It lets you make other sims feel flirty in one click!
You can also add lot traits to your sim’s household to make the entire experience better. Here are some good options:
- Singles Hangout: This trait from Lovestruck is great because it’ll make single sims hangout near your lot so you can find love without ruining other relationships.
- Romantic Aura: This trait comes from The Sims 4: City Living and makes romantic interactions in the house stronger.
Stages of the Aspiration
There are only three stages of this aspiration to play through, so its faster to finish than some others. As you get through the tasks your sims will get satisfaction points to spend on reward traits!
Stage One: Spark of Love
- Go on a Get to Know You Date
To go on a get to know you date, you need to first know a sim at least a little bit because sims may say no! You’ll want to go into the social menu and go to ask to create a date. If the sim says yes, you will have the start an event page open.
You’ll want to choose the get to know you date option and then choose the tasks you want to do on your date.
Once on the date you’ll see the tasks open in the top left corner and you can do those tasks to try and get a high quality date!
There are so many ways your sim can gain the romance skill with the most obvious being to do romance interactions with other sims. You can also do things like researching romance on a computer or reading romance skill books!
The romantic blanket is a really cute addition to the game and is even a woohoo location! You can purchase one of these from the build catalog for 250 simoleons for the classic one. If you want to get wild there is even one shaped like a bear.
Once you have the romance blanket placed somewhere you can click on it and choose any of the interactions you see including woohoo or watch sky or snuggle and these will satisfy romantic requirements.
This is such an adorable way for you to get screenshots of your sims. The way they look at each other is so sweet!
To finish off the first stage of the sims 4 romantic explorer aspiration your sim needs to share food. To do this you’ll need to get a sweetheart’s box filled with food! You can purchase these from your sim’s phone or computer under purchase romantic items.
When you do this a menu will open and all sorts of things will be there. You’ll be looking for any of the options for sweetheart’s box including chocolate truffles or chocolate strawberries and more.
When you purchase it’ll appear in your sim’s inventory and from there you can click on it and choose share with… and choose the sim you are romantic with. The sim will hold the box and feed the other sim and then that sim will feed your sim!
Do this two times and you’ll satisfy this requirement, but it will cost you! Romantic food isn’t cheap!
Stage Two: Expanding Boundaries
- Discuss Romantic Boundaries
When your sim is in a relationship they’ll want to know and understand the romantic boundaries of other sims so they don’t cause jealousy. Once you start gaining a romantic relationship with a sim you can find the ask about romantic boundaries interaction under the relationship > learn more section.
When you do this you’ll get a notification telling you the other sim’s feelings about romance including everything that makes them jealous.
- Have a Romantic Partner
There are two ways you can have a romantic partner. The first way is to ask! At around 50% romance you’ll start to see the option to ask to be romantic partner in the initial social menu. You can also find it under the relationship section.
The other way you can have a romantic partner is for them to ask you! As you grow your romantic relationship you may get an action card where you can either choose to become romantic partners or say not right now and decline.
Since your sim is focused on their romantic relationship they’ll get this pretty naturally, but if you don’t get it fast enough through romantic interactions you can choose to read skill books instead!
- Embrace 3 Times
Embrace is a beautiful interaction for two sims who are in love. It’s such a sweet and loving hug. You’ll find this interaction under the romance > physical intimacy category.
When you click it the two sims will hold each other in a long hug and it is so sweet! You just need to have them embrace three times.
Stage Three: Amour Connoisseur
- Get Gold on a Romantic Date
To start the final stage your sim will need to get gold on a romantic date! You can click on a sim in the romance category or check on your sim’s phone and find ask to create date. This is the same menu you use for a get to know you date but instead you’ll be planning a romantic date.
You’ll pick the kinds of tasks you want to do from being friendly to being romantic to practicing woohoo. These are the types of tasks you’ll need to do to get gold.
Once the date starts you’ll see the task bar open up in the top left corner and you’ll have all the tasks you need. At the top you’ll see a progress bar and you’ll need to fill it to 100% to get gold.
Do as many of the tasks as you possibly can as quickly as possible so you can get that bar full!
When you get gold you’ll get a notification telling you that you had a great date and your sim will get the Cherished Memories Portrait in their inventory! It’s a super cute loving photo of the two sims!
To finish this aspiration your sim needs to get to level 7 of the romance skill. You’ll get this by reading romance skill books, researching romance on the computer and doing romantic interactions.
If you have The Sims 4: Discover University you can even send your sim to take a Romance skill class. It will cost 250 simoleons and you can do it on either campus.
- Perform 25 Romantic Gestures With a Partner Sim
For this task you just need to do anything in the romance category with a sim who is your romantic partner. This includes anything in affection, flirtation and physical intimacy! So it’s really easy.
- Woohoo 3 Times at Different Locations
Depending on how much DLC you have downloaded you’ll have different woohoo locations to choose from. With the base game and lovestruck you can woohoo in beds, in the backyard observatory, on the romance blanket and more.
With DLC you can also woohoo in locations like the shower (Discover University), in a coffin (Vampires), or even in dumpster (Eco Lifestyle).
You just need to woohoo with a sim in three different locations to finish this aspiration.
Seasoned Romantic Reward Trait
When your sim finishes off the sims 4 romantic explorer aspiration they’ll be given the seasoned romantic trait.
This trait’s description reads “Seasoned romantic sims find their romantic relationships with other sims grow faster. They also get over embarrassment faster since they know that you don’t need to be embarrassed when it comes to love.”
I love getting this reward trait before doing something like serial romantic because sims will grow relationships faster and they can get that Player trait so no one gets jealous again!
