How to Grow a Cowplant in The Sims 4
There’s some experiences everyone needs and being able to grow a cowplant in the sims 4 is one of them.
It’s one of those things that’s so weird, and I wonder who created the concept of a cowplant, but I love it so much.
I even have a cowplant painting on my office wall, so knowing everything about cowplants is my favourite.
How to Grow a Cowplant in The Sims 4
To get a cowplant on your lot you’ll first need to find a cowplant berry! There are a few ways you can do this, the first being to get to level 10 of the gardening skill and purchasing a pack of rare plant seeds from build mode or by clicking on a garden planter.

There are other ways to get a cowplant berry too, the most popular way is to do it by grafting which you can do by:
- Graft a Strawberry and Snapdragon to get a Dragonfruit
- Graft a Snapdragon with a Dragonfruit to get a Cowplant Berry
You can also get a cowplant berry through fishing, though this is a pain for me so it’s not my favourite.
When you finally get your hands on a cowplant berry you’ll want to place it directly on the ground where you want to plant it and click on it and choose plant.
It will turn from the berry into a small patch of dirt with little horns, kinda scary but kinda cute. Then you’ll want to water it and wait a few days until it’s fully grown.

Once your cowplant is fully grown you’ll be able to feed it, play with it and pet it! You can even give it a name to whatever you want, which is so fun!

How to Avoid Death by Cowplant
The thing about cowplants is they don’t like to be neglected… They hate it so much you can die! If you fail to feed your cowplant for 12 hours they will pop a piece of cake out of their mouth.
When you click on them you can either feed or eat cake. Don’t eat the cake if you want safety!

The first time a sim eats the cake from a cowplant, they’ll be spit back out which is lucky. They’ll probably develop a fear of cowplants and you’ll want to avoid having them do it again.

You should always make sure to milk the cowplant after a sim is spit out (or fully eaten). If a sim is spit back out the milk option will give that sim an essence of whatever mood the sim was feeling when they were swallowed. Drinking this gives strong 12 hour moodlets!

If a sim goes ahead and eats the cake again they are going to die, sorry. The grim reaper will appear and the sim will turn into a tombstone.
When you milk a cowplant after a sim dies you’l get the essence of life, which is what you really want. Drinking an essence of life will turn the clock back on your sim’s current life stage, giving them more time to live!

So, to avoid the cowplant death feed your cowplant at least once every 12 hours, and never eat the cake!
You’ll want to experience having a cowplant at least once, especially if you want to finish the freelance botanist aspiration and now you know how! Go off and grow it, but don’t forget to feed it!
