Do you like fish? Do you want to fish? Then play through the sims 4 angling ace aspiration!
The aspiration is from the base game of The Sims 4 and has your sims spending all their time fishing.
Your sim will need a high level of the fishing skill and a love of the outdoors!
Collector Bonus Trait
When you start your sim off with this aspiration (and all nature aspirations, like the curator aspiration) you’ll be given the collector bonus trait. This trait helps sims find rare collectibles like fossils and crystals more often.
Best Traits for The Sims 4 Angling Ace Aspiration
When you are creating your sim you should give them good traits to finish their aspirations, here’s some good traits for sims who want to play this aspiration:
- Loves The Outdoors: Fishing is always done outdoors so loving the outdoors is great to give happy moodlets.
- Genius: The ideal mood for fishing is focused and genius sims get focused moodlets more often!
- Practice Makes Perfect: This trait has sims starting off by gaining skills slower, but eventually they get skill boosts. Plus, they get powerful focused moodlets which is the ideal mood!
You can also give your sims some fun reward store traits that can make it so their needs decay slower so they can spend more time fishing:
- Antiseptic (3,000): Decays hygiene need slower
- Hardly Hungry (4,000): Decays hunger need slower
- Seldom Sleepy (4,000): Decays sleep need slower
- Independent (2,000): Decays social need slower
Stages of the Aspiration
There are four fun stages of the sims 4 angling ace aspiration to play through. Each stage has different tasks where you’ll need to catch different fish, use bait and mount your fish!
Stage One: Fish Out of Water
- Catch 5 Fish
The first part of this aspiration is to catch 5 fish, super easy. To start fishing you need to find any location that has one of these small wooden signs with a fish on it, these are the fishing locations!
Once you find one of these you’ll click on it and choose go fishing and your sim will start fishing and catching fish and sometimes trash or other weird objects. Each time you catch a fish you’ll get a notification and the fish will appear in your inventory.
- Fish at 3 Different Locations
Your sim needs to fish at 3 different locations, this means you need to find 3 different fishing location signs. These can all even be in the same neighbourhood, it just needs to be 3 different signs.
Your sim is able to also fish at ponds in parks too which will count toward this!
Stage Two: Hooked
- Fish for 10 Total Hours
The second stage of the sims 4 angling ace aspiration starts your sims off needing to fish for 10 total hours. This is great because you just need to have your sim fish, nothing fancy. This is a cumulative number so you don’t need to fish for 10 straight hours.
- Mount or Bowl 5 Fish
Your next task is to mount of bowl 5 fish to display them in your home. Mounting fish can be done straight from your sim’s inventory by clicking on a fish and choosing mount. When you do this a mounted fish will appear in your inventory and you can drag it on a wall and use it for decor.
To bowl fish you’ll need to purchase fish bowls and place them in your sim’s home. You’ll then click on them and choose add fish and you can pick any fish from your sim’s inventory.
The final thing you need to do is reach level 4 of the fishing skill. You’ll already be spending 10 hours fishing in this section and if you do it while focused you’ll gain the skill faster so you are probably already close. Just keep fishing or reading fishing skill books!
Stage Three: Reel Smart
To start off the third section of the sims 4 angling ace aspiration you’ll need to fish with bait. To do this you’ll want to click on a fishing sign and choose fish with bait. When you do this a menu will appear and let you choose what kind of bait to use.
You can use so many items as bait including other fish, plants that you’ve grown or purchased and even random items like crystals.
You’ll need to re-bait after catching each fish with another piece of bait so satisfy the requirement.
- Make 6 Great Catches
Each fish you catch will have a quality ranking on it with options like poor, normal, great and excellent. Your goal is to get 6 different fish caught by your sim with a great or higher quality ranking.
Some things you can do to increase your sim’s likelihood of catching higher quality fish include making sure they’re feeling focused, increasing their fishing skill and using bait!
The final part of stage 3 is to achieve level 6 of the fishing skill. Your sim just needs to keep spending time fishing and you’ll reach this in no time!
Stage Four: Angling Ace
- Collect 20 Types of Fish
There are so many types of fish to catch and for this aspiration you’ll need to collect 20 different types. Something a lot of players don’t know is that the game is coded so certain fish appear in certain areas, you can’t catch all fish at all locations.
For example, you can catch the following fish in Desert Bloom Park:
- Guppy
- Gold Fish
- Koi
- Trout
- Piranha
You just need to try out as many fishing spots as you can to find different types. At any time you can open the household collections menu to see what fish you’ve caught to track progress!
Your final task to finish the aspiration is to max out the fishing skill. You’ll have spent so much time trying to catch 25 different fish that you’ll probably be close or already done this task!
If you want to just cheat the skill you can use stats.set_skill_level major_fishing 10 to max it out!
Angler’s Tranquility Reward Trait
When your sim is able to finish the sims 4 angling ace aspiration they are going to get the angler’s tranquility reward trait. This trait’s description says “Sims with angler’s tranquility will find that all their problems seem to melt away while they are fishing.”
What does this do? Well, if your sim has negative moods (i.e., sad, tense, embarrassed) you’ll see them melt away faster while they are fishing and they will bring the sim back to being calm and happy!
