The Sims 4 Master Mentor Aspiration

If you love learning and want to teach others, the sims 4 master mentor aspiration is for you!

This super fun aspiration comes to the game from The Sims 4: Business & Hobbies.

Your sim will need to gain tons of skills and start teaching classes to other sims too!

Quick Learner Bonus Trait

When a sim starts any of the knowledge aspirations they’ll get the quick learner bonus trait. This is a fantastic trait for this aspiration because it helps your sim gain all skills faster!

In this aspiration you’ll need to get 3 skills to the max level, so you’ll need to be constantly working on them so having a trait like this is awesome.

Best Traits for The Master Mentor Aspiration

The traits you give your sims are so important for finishing aspirations! Since this aspiration doesn’t have specific skills you need to gain it’s hard to pick specific traits because it depends on what you want to earn! However, there are some great reward store traits for this aspiration:

  • Super Mentor (1,000): Sims with this trait will be more powerful when mentoring so the other sims will gain skills faster!
  • Morning Sim (1,000): Sims with this trait gain skills faster in the morning.
  • Night Owl (1,000): Sims with this trait gain skills faster at night.

You can also add lot traits to your sim’s household so they can gain skills more quickly:

  • Study Spot: This is a lot trait from The Sims 4: Discover University and gives a skill boost to all skills!
  • There are also lot traits for individual skills so you may want to add those too depending on which skills you’re focused on. For example you may want to add the great acoustics trait if you plan to gain any musical skills.

Stages of the Aspiration

There are four stages of this aspiration for your sims to gain. In each stage they’ll have specific tasks to complete where they will get satisfaction points each time they finish one!

Stage One: Fledgling Mentee

  • Gain a Mentor

Having a mentor is a great way to earn skills faster than ever before! This isn’t just asking for mentoring, this is a different interaction where you’ll ask to be someone’s mentee. This sim needs to have at least level 5 in a skill to have this interaction, so I find it’s great to ask business owners who run hobby classes to do this.

A screenshot from The Sims 4 showing a sim asking to be another sim's mentee

You need to know that some sims will say no, this happens when you don’t have a strong enough relationship with them so its smart to first grow a relationship with friendly interactions before asking.

A screenshot from The Sims 4 showing the notification you get when a sim becomes your mentor

When the interaction is successful you’ll get a notification telling you it worked and you now have a mentor!

  • Earn Bronze Level 3 Times from Attending Hobby Classes

Throughout this aspiration you’ll need to attend hobby classes, these are great because it can help your sim gain skills in a social environment. To do this you can go to any lot that has a small business and a hobby class board inside of it. Some options for business to go to include:

  • Koffieboon has a Writing Class (Located in the Gammelvik Neighbourhood)
  • Terra-Potta has a Pottery Class (Located in the Iverstad Neighbourhood)

Once you get there you can click on the hobby board and choose ask to start class and then pick the appropriate class and choose a teacher.

When it starts you’ll see an event menu pop up in the top left corner where you’ll see all your tasks to complete. You’ll need to get the entire first section of the progress bar full to complete this. If you listen to the lecture and craft a ceramic object in a pottery class you can definitely get this done!

To listen to the lecture wait until the teacher begins the lecture and click on them and choose listen to XYZ lecture and your sim will actively listen. Once the 30 minute requirement is up you can cancel that interaction and start doing other tasks to get bronze.

  • Achieve Level 3 in 3 Skils

Throughout this aspiration you’ll need to reach level 10 in three different skills. These can be any skill in the game from cooking to handiness, it really doesn’t matter what skills you choose!

Stage Two: Aspiring Student

  • Make a New Friend While Attending a Hobby Class

The first thing you need to do is make a friend while attending a hobby class! I found that I had to have this be one class and the next task (getting gold) to be a separate class. There just wasn’t enough time to do all the tasks and make a friend.

While a hobby class is starting you just find another person attending the class and introduce yourself. Then do some friendly interactions until they’re your friend!

  • Achieve Gold Level From Attending a Hobby Class

We’ve already discussed how to get bronze by listening to a lecture and making a ceramic object but getting to gold is harder. The best thing you can do is when you’re crafting your object you can click on the sim teaching and choose ask for pottery mentoring. They’ll come over and you can do the crafting and mentoring objectives at the same time to save time.

You’ll see other tasks to complete like specific hobby tasks like glazing items at a pottery class. Plus, you’ll need to chat with others in the topic at hand to get gold.

Just work hard on getting the tasks done as fast as possible because just listening to the lecture and making an object can take quite a while! These classes aren’t super long!

  • Be Mentored for 3 Hours

Being mentored is a great way to earn skills faster. To be mentored you can click on any skill object and choose the mentoring menu and pick a sim who can mentor you. It’s great to do this at a business lot if you don’t have another sim in your lot to mentor you!

  • Achieve Level 5 in 3 Skills

In the past section of this aspiration you’ll need to reach level 3 of these skills, so you’ll only need to gain two. more levels per skill for this stage. That’s super easy! Just keep working on your skills and you’ll get there quick.

Stage Three: Passionate Teacher

  • Become a Mentor to Another Sim

Your next task is to become a mentor to another sim! There are two ways for a sim to become a mentor, the first is to click on another sim and choose offer to be sim’s mentor and they will either say yes or no and you’ll get a notification about it.

You can also have other sims ask your sim to become their mentor to satisfy this requirement. My sim got a phone call from another sim and said yes and it worked!

  • Mentor Another Sim for 3 Hours

Your next task is to mentor another sim for 3 hours. This does not need to be your mentee!

A screenshot from The Sims 4 showing how to offer mentoring

To do this you can click on any hobby object and choose mentoring and offer mentoring in whatever hobby. Do this for three hours and you’ll be good to go!

  • Teach 5 Hobby Classes

Your next task is to teach 5 hobby classes, to do this you’ll need to have a small business owned by your sim and have a hobby board inside that business. Then, open up your business, wait for sims to come and then click on the board and choose start class!

A screenshot from The Sims 4 showing how to start a hobby class

You’ll see the event menu appear in the top left corner with tasks for your sim to complete to do well in a hobby class. You don’t even need to get to bronze, you just need to get sims to attend.

A screenshot from The Sims 4 showing the tasks for a hobby class

The easiest way to get sims to pay attention is to click on the hobby board after you’ve started a class and choose hold painting lecture for and choose sims to attend! This will help to satisfy the lecture for 45 minutes requirement.

  • Achieve Level 8 in 3 Skills

You’ve already reached level 5 in these skills in the past section, so getting to level 8 is easy peasy! Just work on them often and you’ll get there easy.

Stage Four: Master Mentor

  • Earn Gold Level 2 Times from Teaching Hobby Classes

In the last stage of the aspiration it didn’t matter what ranking you got in your hobby classes, but now it does! Your sim will need to earn gold twice while teaching hobby classes.

Doing this isn’t super hard, you’ll get tasks to complete in the top left corner and you just need to do them as quickly as possible so you don’t run out of time. To do a lecture click on the hobby board and choose hold lecture for… so you can pick sims to lecture so they join the class.

You’ll get things like mentoring other sims, talking to sims about the topic at hand (i.e., discuss colour theory in a painting class) and your sim will even need to participate by doing the hobby too.

You can do it! Getting gold isn’t too hard.

  • Gain a Mastery Perk

When you are able to master skills with Business & Hobbies your sims can gain mastery skill perks. These are awesome because they can give your sims more skill gain bonuses and fun other perks too!

There are two ways I’ve found to gain these, the first way being by maxing a skill and getting an action card about a mastery perk. You can either say yes or no to the perk when offered it, but for this just say yes!

A screenshot from The Sims 4 showing a sim gaining a mastery perk

You can also purchase the Mastery Perk Bestower potion from the reward store. It’s going to cost you 8,000 satisfaction points which is a wild amount.

When you purchase this the potion will appear in your sim’s inventory and when you click on it and choose drink a menu will open where you can choose which perk to take for your sim!

  • Achieve Level 10 in 3 Skills

To finish off this aspiration you’ll need to reach level 10 in three different skills! You’ll have already reached level 8 in the last section, so this is super easy at this point!

Motivational Speaker Reward Trait

When your sim manages to finish the sims 4 master mentor aspiration they’ll be given the motivational speaker reward trait.

This trait’s description reads “This sim can give a motivating speech, providing themselves and others a bonus to skill gain, happiness and skill perk discovery.”

When you click on your sim you’ll see the option to give motivating speech and your sim will chat for a bit and then get a +2 happy moodlet!
