The Sims 4 Master Maker Aspiration

Is your sim into fabrication? Then put them in the sims 4 master maker aspiration!

This aspiration comes to your game with The Sims 4: Eco Lifestyle and is all about making things.

Your sims will need to fabricate furniture, make candles and even be a freelance crafter!

Muser Bonus Trait

When you choose a creativity aspiration for your sim you’ll get the muser bonus trait given to your sim. This trait’s description reads “Musers get better boosts to their skills when they’re inspired.”

This reward trait isn’t super helpful for this aspiration because the ideal mood for the fabrication skill is actually focused. So being inspired cancels out anything you’d gain from being in the ideal mood!

Best Traits for The Sims 4 Master Maker Aspiration

When you decide on an aspiration for your sims to play through you need to pick applicable traits. Here’s some traits that can be helpful for your sims in this aspiration:

  • Genius: The ideal mood for fabricating is focused and genius sims get focused moodlets more often.
  • Practice Makes Perfect: This trait has your sim gaining skills slowly at first, but eventually they get a boost. Plus, this trait gives tons of strong focused moodlets.
  • Perfectionist: Perfectionist sims take slightly longer to craft items but they always come out higher quality so you can earn more money on anything you create.

You can also add lot traits to your household to increase skill gains, there aren’t many to help with this aspiration though:

Stages of the Aspiration

There are four levels of the sims 4 master maker aspiration to work through. Each section has their own tasks you must complete and you’ll get satisfaction points when you do.

If you ever want to skip a section without the effort you can use the aspirations.complete_current_milestone cheat!

Stage One: Jerry Rigger

The very first task for this aspiration is to get to level 3 of the fabrication skill. This skill is gained through making and you can do one of two things, either using the candle making station or the fabricator.

A screenshot from The Sims 4 showing the listings for the fabricator and candle making table

In order to use either of these machines you’ll need to get your hands on some bits and pieces. These are gained by recycling objects from your inventory, looking through garbage cans or going dumpster diving.

If you want to get bits and pieces without all that effort you can always cheat it! To do this enable cheats with testingcheats true and then hold down shift and click on the fabricator. You’ll choose give bits and pieces and each time you do this you’ll get 50 of each.

To start gaining the skill you need to fabricate items. Click on your fabricator and choose fabricate.

A menu will open showing you the items you have available to create based on your sim’s level in the fabrication skill. To start you can make a bookshelf, end table, rug, table light or an eco-upgrade part.

If you don’t feel like making furniture or eco-parts you can make candles instead. To make candles you need to get soy candle wax to create them. To get candle wax you can click on the purchase ingredients button on the candle making station and purchase it by scrolling to the bottom of the list.

You can also grow your own soy wax blocks. In a vertical planter you can plant soy beans! Everyday you can harvest the beans and a little less frequently you’ll be able to harvest the wax to make candles. This is annoying and time consuming so I usually just buy it instead.

Once you have your wax you can click on the candle making station and choose make candle and a menu will appear. This menu will show you all the options you have based on your fabrication skill level. Starting off you’ll only be able to make dipped candles.

To get through levels of the fabrication skill just keep making candles or crafting items on the fabrication machine. Easy peasy!

  • Recycle 5 Times

The next task you need to complete is to recycle 5 times. To do this on your lot you’ll need to purchase the Guntdach Home Recycler for §845.

If you don’t want to purchase a recycling machine you can head to the Sprucewood Square lot where you’ll find one you can use for free!

To start recycling you’ll need items to recycle in either your sim’s personal inventory or the household inventory. You can recycle pretty much anything from crafted items like candles to full pieces of furniture if you’re feeling super wild.

It’s best to stick to trash to save money, so spend some time dumpster diving and recycle those items.

Once you recycle your first item you’ll get a notification telling you all about recycling and how you can use your bits!

Note: Recycle items one at a time. Don’t do all of the items at once. This requires you to use the machine 5 separate times.

Stage Two: The Better Builder

To finish this part of the aspiration you’ll need to get to level 5 of the fabrication skill. Easy! You just need to keep making items on the fabrication machine or crafting candles at the candle making station.

  • Fabricate 5 Items

Next on the list for the sims 4 master maker aspiration is to fabricate 5 items. This applies to anything your sim can make on the fabricator. Since you need to make 5 you may as well make a dining table and 4 chairs! You’d have a perfect set.

  • Have 5 Dyes

There are two ways you can get your hands on some dyes. The first way is to search dumpsters for them, but this can be gross and time consuming.

A screenshot from The Sims 4 showing how to purchase dyes on a fabricator

The easier way is to just purchase them by clicking purchase dyes on the fabricator or purchase ingredients on the candle making table.

These dyes are used to change the colours of both your candles and items made on the fabricator!

Stage Three: Competent Crafter

To get to level 7 of this skill just keep plugging away at making items. It might get repetitive, but you could decorate your sim’s whole house with gorgeous custom pieces and light it with candles. Or sell them for money!

  • Collect Insects from an Insect Farm 3 Times

The next part of this task is a little icky if you don’t like bugs. You’ll need to purchase the Mitey Mitey Home Insect Farm for §165. You may as well buy 3 of these so you don’t have to wait for the insects to be ready more than once.

Once you have an insect house you can click on it and choose the type of insect you want inside and pay for them. Then, you’ll see the option to nurture your insects which is a good idea because the farm will thrive when nurtured.

You can hover over the insect farm at any time to see how they are doing. You’ll see a collection section and once that section is ready you’ll be able to click on it and collect your goodies. For example, if you are farming beetles you’ll be able to collect beetle nuggets to satisfy this.

When you do this you’ll get some goodies in your sim’s inventory. For example, you can get items like cricket flour and super fertilizer. That super fertilizer is great for gardening!

  • Create 5 Candles

This is a really easy stage of this aspiration. Your sim will just need to head over to the candle making station and craft any four candles of your choice. Easy peasy!

Pro Tip: Purchase more than one candle making station so you can line up all five interactions back to back instead of having to wait for the sim to finish their current candle.

Stage Four: Master Maker

A screenshot of the fourth stage of the master maker aspiration

To finish off the last section of this aspiration you’ll need to max your sim’s fabrication skill. Since you’ve been crafting for so many parts of this you may be done or close already but you just need to keep creating.

Want to get it without effort? Use stats.set_skill_level major_fabrication 10 to max out the skill with cheats.

  • Make 20 Candles

This part of the aspiration is easy, but super time consuming. Purchase multiple candle making stations so you can line up lots of candle making back to back to get it done quick.

If you want to work on this and your freelancer gigs at the same time you can decide to only choose gigs that have your sim making candles. This will satisfy this part of the aspiration and help you work toward finishing your 5 gigs!

  • Complete 5 Gigs as a Freelance Crafter

The last thing you need to do to finish the sims 4 master maker aspiration is to join the freelance crafter career and complete five gigs. You’ll find this career under the freelancer umbrella.

A screenshot of the freelancer career in The Sims 4

Once you choose freelancer you’ll get to choose which type and you’ll choose the SIMply Crafted option. Then you can go to your career panel to select a gig. You can choose any of the gigs, even the juice fizzing gigs if you want to work on that too.

When you have a gig you’ll see information in your career panel. Your sim will have a due date to finish the project by as well as tasks to complete. You’ll start with having to chat with your client on the computer which you can find under the freelancer menu.

Once you’ve chatted with your client you’re ready to create. This client wanted a fabricated rug, so I went over to the fabricator and made the rug in a canary yellow colour.

A screenshot from the sims 4 showing how to fabricate a rug

Once you have the required item or items, you can click on the computer and under freelancer you’ll find send to client for approval. If your items are of high enough quality the client will accept them, if not, you may have to create them again!

A screenshot from the sims 4 showing how to send an item to a client

You will get a notification of a text from your client hopefully praising your work and your gig will be done. Do these gigs 5 times and you’re good to go!

Muse of the Maker Reward Trait

When your sim finishes off the sims 4 master maker aspiration they are going to get the muse of the maker reward trait. This trait’s description reads “Master makers have learned all the tricks necessary to fabricate items at a reduced cost.”

A screenshot from The Sims 4 of the muser of the maker reward trait you get when you finish the master maker aspiration

An example of the effects of this reward trait is a dipped candle before this trait cost 4 bits and 6 pieces. With this reward trait it costs 2 bits and 3 pieces. That’s a 50% discount, not too shabby.
