How to Earn Book Royalties in The Sims 4
If you want to earn book royalties in The Sims 4 you need your sim to write, write, write!
This is one of the best ways to earn money in the game because the royalties roll in as passive income for days after publishing them.
Your sims will need to earn 25,000 in royalties to complete the bestselling author aspiration too!
How to Write and Publish Books
The first stage to earning book royalties in The Sims 4 is to write books that you can publish. To do this you need to have a computer and click on it and choose write > write genre book and select a book type. At the beginning, you can only write children’s books until you increase your sim’s writing skill.

Once you’ve written a book you can publish it and you have three options:
- Self-Publish (Unlocks at Level 2 of the Writing Skill)
- Sell to Publisher (Unlocks at Level 5 of the Writing Skill)
- Submit Book Copy to Literary Digest (Unlocks at Level 9 of the Writing Skill)

Self-publishing is lame, it doesn’t make enough royalties so I like to save my books in my sim’s inventory until they unlock the sell to publisher option.
When you get the literary digest option you’ll be able to submit one book copy per week and this brings the most royalties. You’ll want to save an excellent or best seller quality book for this!
How to Earn Book Royalties in The Sims 4
Once you publish a book you’ll start to see the royalty cheques come in. Each day at 10 o’clock in the morning you’ll get a notification for royalties with how much money you’ve earned. The simoleons will immediately be deposited into your household inventory.

If you’re working on the bestselling author aspiration you’ll need to earn 25,000 simoleons through royalties. This means you need to write a lot of books. Like dozens of books and wait for a decent amount of time. With enough high-quality books written and published you’ll be able to earn thousands each day.

If you want to really maximize profits you can purchase the creative visionary reward trait from the reward store for 2,000 satisfaction points. This will give you a higher chance of creating high-quality books that earn more money.
