The Sims 4 Musical Genius Aspiration
If you have a musical sim they should definitely have the sims 4 musical genius aspiration.
This aspiration has you playing music, writing songs and earning lots of royalties from your music.
Your sim will be able to play the guitar, the violin or even start playing the piano!
Muser Bonus Trait
When you give your sim a creative aspiration they will get the muser bonus trait. This trait’s description reads “Musers get better boosts to their skills when they’re inspired.”

This is a great trait to have when doing this aspiration because it’ll give you a boost to any instrumental skills including the guitar skill!
Best Traits for The Sims 4 Musical Genius Aspiration
When you create a sim you should always think about the traits you give them. Here’s some traits that may help with this aspiration:
- Creative: The ideal mood for gaining instrument skills is inspired and creative sims get inspired moodlets often.
- Music Lover: Sims who are music lovers will get happy moodlets when playing and that can stack with inspired.
- Perfectionist: Sims who are perfectionists take longer to write songs but those songs will come out higher quality so they’ll earn more royalties.
- Muser: This trait is a bonus trait for creative aspirations and gives an even bigger boost to skills when a sim is creative so you can gain the instrument skills faster.
If you want to take it even further you can add some lot traits. Here’s some lot traits that can help with the sims 4 musical genius aspiration:
- Great Acoustics: This trait helps sims gain musical skills like guitar, piano and violin faster.
- Sunny Aspect: This traits comes with The Sims 4: City Living and gives your sims a random moodlet each day at 6PM. The trait is either inspired, energized or happy and those inspired moodlets can be used as a great time to work on musical tasks.
Stages of the Aspiration
There are four stages for your sims to work through. Each stage has their own fun tasks that you can complete and you’ll get satisfaction points each time you do.
Stage One: Tone-Deaf

- Practice Music for 6 Hours
The very first thing you need to do for this aspiration is practice music for 6 hours. Throughout this whole aspiration you have options, your sim can either play violin, guitar or piano.

You can click on whatever instrument your sim is going to learn and you’ll see the option to practice. This is easy and you just need to do it for six total hours, not even back to back.
- Listen to Music for 2 Hours
Any sim who does this aspiration obviously loves music, even listening to it. You’ll need to have a radio in your sim’s household to get this part done.
Place a radio and click on it and choose listen to and then choose a specific type of music and it will satisfy this need.

If you have The Sims 4: Fitness Stuff you have the ability to get headphones for your sims. This is my favourite way to get this done because your sim doesn’t need to stay in the same room as the radio to do it!
I’ve even had my sims practice their instrument while listening to music on their headphones!
Stage Two: Fine Tuned

- Achieve Level 4 Skill in an Instrument
This part is easy, you just need to keep practicing your chosen instrument and gain level four of the skill. Want to play guitar? Just keep going with that guitar skill and getting your sims to jam out at home! Want piano? Keep playing! Violin? Go for it!
- Play an Instrument for 1 Hour While Inspired
The ideal mood for any of the instrument skills (i.e., violin, guitar or the piano skill) is inspired. So, of course, you want to feel inspired before playing.
To get this section done you need to get your sim’s to feel inspired and then start playing your instrument. The easiest way to get inspired is to take a thoughtful shower which will give you a +1 Inspired moodlet that lasts 4 hours.

Some other ways you can get inspired include:
- Use The Evocative Lemon Incense from The Sims 4: Spa Day
- Browse Art on a Computer
- Cloud gazing from The Sims 4: Outdoor Retreat
- Ask Future Cube for Creative Ideas
- Drink an Inspired Potion from The Reward Store
Stage Three: Harmonious

- Achieve Level 6 Skill in an Instrument
To continue gaining the skill you can use any of the interactions from play concerto to practice and you’ll get the skill for any of them! Just keep plugging away for the skill and you’ll be able to get this done.
The next thing your sim needs to do is start writing their own music which is so fun. Your sim is going to unlock this ability when they reach level 8 of their chosen instrument.

To do this you’ll want to click on your chosen instrument and find write song and choose a style of song you want to write. This will take your sim a decent amount of time, but you don’t have to write it non-stop.
The song will appear in your sim’s inventory and you can choose to continue writing from there. Just write four songs and you’ll finish this easy!
- Earn §500 from Licensed Songs
At level 9 of your instrument skill (i.e., piano, guitar or the violin skill) your sim is able to start licensing songs. Since you’ve already started writing songs you’ll be able to do this right away!
To license a song you just click on a mailbox and choose license song > your instrument and then choose the song that you want to license.

You’ll get a notification letting you know that your song has been licensed and you’ll start to get royalty payments. Every day at 10AM you’ll get a royalty payment!
These payments are based on the quality of the song you’ve written so you should focused on your sim’s mood, needs and skill level when they are writing songs so you can earn the most money.
You’ll just need to wait a few days after licensing your song to earn that 500 simoleons. Unfortunately you can’t license more than one song per week, so it just takes time.
Stage Four: Musical Genius

- Achieve Level 10 Skill in an Instrument
In the time that you were writing your four songs, you’ve probably hit level 10 of your chosen instrument by now. If you haven’t, just keep playing your instrument until you hit this.
- Have Spent 75 Hours Playing Musical Instruments
This is such an easy thing to hit. Thankfully, this is a cumulative number meaning it starts from the second your sim picked up their instrument for the first time. There’s a chance you’ve already gotten close or even hit this number before ever getting to this stage of the aspiration!
- Mentor Others in Music for 3 Hours
The final task to become a musical genius is mentoring a sim for three hours. With an update EA made mentoring so much easier and that makes me so happy.
You can click on your chosen instrument and click mentoring > offer violin mentoring and choose a sim who is in your vicinity. Do this for three hours and you’re good to go! You can even mentor violin and piano with children!

If you have The Sims 4: Business & Hobbies installed in your game you can even use this as a money making opportunity. A sim with a maxed skill can earn §430 per hour when mentoring!
Piper Reward Trait
When your sim finishes this aspiration they are going to get the piper reward trait. It’s description reads “Pipers know an arsenal of songs that have significant power over others.”

This is actually a really fun reward trait. It gives you a new menu option on a violin where you can control the sim’s that are around you. There are four options and each does something different.

- Ditty of Drowsiness: Makes all sims in the room fall asleep
- Carol of Cleaning: Makes all sims in the room start cleaning
- Song of Sophistication: Makes all sims in the room change into formal clothing
- Etude of Egress: Makes all sims in the room leave the lot and go home
These are super funny interactions to do when your sim is having a party!
