The Sims 4 Snowboarding Skill Guide
If you want to be the coolest sim on the mountain, you need your sim to gain the sims 4 snowboarding skill.
This skill came to the game with The Sims 4: Snowy Escape and has your sims crushing it all the way down the mountain.
What is Snowboarding Good For?
Snowboarding is a super fun hobby for your sims to have and can be a fun weekend activity or vacation activity for your sims to participate in.
Your sims are also able to earn daily royalties when they are great at snowboarding by recording and uploading their own POV videos!
How to Gain The Sims 4 Snowboarding Skill
To start gaining the snowboarding skill you’ll want to head over to the mountain and have your sims hangout on the bunny slopes. These are the easiest slopes to snowboard on and will result in less injuries for your sims.
If you click on the bunny slope and start snowboarding you’ll be given a loaner board but this can give your sims uncomfortable moodlets from pain. You can go to a vending machine for Bits ‘n Bobbles and purchase a different one. You’ll also get new boards that you can purchase that are higher quality as you gain the skill.
As you continue to gain the skill your sim will be able to start snowboarding on the harder slopes. There are five slopes to choose from, ranked from easiest to hardest:
- Bunny Slope
- Easy Slope
- Intermediate Slope
- Expert Slope
- Ludicrous Slope
When you choose a slope you can get your sims to do one run or continuously go up and down the mountain over and over. You also get to choose the intensity, with higher intensity runs giving your sims more chances to do cool tricks but have a higher chance of injury too.
Eventually as you gain the skill you’ll be able to research snowboarding techniques on the computer to gain this skill as well. This is nice to gain some skill when your sim has just a few hours at home instead of going to the mountain.
The other way your sims can gain this skill is by purchasing and reading the three different snowboarding skill books:
- Snowboarding Vol 1: So You Want To Snowboard
- Snowboarding Vol 2: Feeding the Powder
- Snowboarding Vol 3: Gettin’ Tricky
Your sim can read volume 1 from level 1 to 4 of the sims 4 snowboarding skill. You’ll then want to read volume 2 from level 4 to level 7, then move to volume 3 to finish the skill.
Ideal Mood for Snowboarding
With every skill comes an ideal mood for your sims to be in to gain it more quickly. The snowboarding skill is earned quickest when your sim is feeling the energized emotion. You can take a brisk shower to ge t a sim to feel energized quickly!
Best Traits for Snowboarding
When you create a sim you need to consider their traits. The traits they have can have an impact on their skill gains and these can be helpful for gaining the sims 4 snowboarding skill:
- Active: Sims with the active trait will get energized moodlets randomly which can help you gain the skill more quickly.
- Loves The Outdoors: Sims with this trait enjoy being outside more, so you’ll get happy moodlets when on the mountain.
You also want to take into consideration the kinds of lot traits you add. However, you snowboard outside of the home so there’s only one trait that can help:
- Peace and Quiet: We got this lot trait with The Sims 4: Jungle Adventure. This is going to have your sims gain skills more quickly when reading skill books!
How to Cheat The Sims 4 Snowboarding Skill
The snowboarding skill is easy to gain, but you can easily cheat it instead. You just need to know stats.set_skill_level major_snowboarding 10 to max it out. If you want a different level of the skill you can change the 10 at the end to a number between 1 and 9.
Levels of the Snowboarding Skill
There are ten levels of the sims 4 snowboarding skill to gain. As you increase your level your sim will unlock new clothes, new abilities and new tricks!

| Level 1 | Your sim can do beginner runs on the bunny slope or easy slopes, as intense as preferred. |
| Level 2 | Your sim can now bond over snowboarding more. Ask other sims to become snow bros… or revoke that invitation. |
| Level 3 | Your sim can now do runs down the intermediate slopes. They can also bond even more using the snow bro high five. |
| Level 4 | Your sim can research snowboarding techniques on a computer. They can also do more intense runs on intermediate slopes, or try their hand at expert slopes, along with a few more tricks. They can also use the Get Hyped self interaction. |
| Level 5 | Your sim can now make fun of sims that like skiing using the Mock Skiing interaction. They can also do more intense tricks on expert slopes. |
| Level 6 | Your sim can now use the endure the burn interaction on other sims. They also unlock more tricks and a new snowboard. |
| Level 7 | Your sim can now use the Brag About Shredding social interaction. They can also use the Stretch it Out self interaction to help with injuries. |
| Level 8 | Your sim can now dare to attempt risky slope on other sims. They also unlock the ability to do more tricks. |
| Level 9 | Your sim can chat about rad slopes with others. |
| Level 10 | Your sim has perfected the art of snowboarding. They can now coach other sims or provide snowboarding tips. They can also record their runs on slopes and upload them to a computer. |
Types of Snowboards
There are actually four types of snowboards available for adults and one for children. They all have different quality and will cost more money as you move up.
- Sulco Basic Snowboard §200
- “We here are Sulco understand the complex snowboarder terminology required to provide the best equipment possible. We have slick snowboards that go down mountains so fast. Trust us.”
- X2 Classified Timber §275
- Unlocked at Level 3 of the Sims 4 Snowboarding Skill
- “The X2 Classified Timber is a top secret snowboard sanctioned only by a handful of governments around the world, and use by only the most obscure and unknown snowboard professionals. Now it can be yours for only a few hundred simoleons. The mountains are calling…”
- Freestyle Ultraboard §410
- Unlocked at Level 6 of the Snowboarding Skill
- “This board is not just any normal freestyle board… no it’s an ULTRA freestyle board. Snow just straight up melts as this high-end board screams down the mountain.”
- GnomeBoard X §750
- Unlocked at Level 10 of the Sims 4 Snowboarding Skill
- “After the success of the famed GnomeSports line of soccer balls, the Gnomes decided to venture into snowboard creation with the Gnome Board X. Oh and they might have imbued every one of them with magical properties… we’re not sure… we just sell these things.”

Uploading Snowboarding POV Videos
There are ways your sims can make money with both the skiing skill and snowboarding which I love. With skiing your sims are able to teach classes which is boring, with snowboarding they can record POV videos on the slopes and upload them to a computer to start earning royalties.
To do this you’ll go to the slopes and instead of choosing one time or continuously you’ll choose record POV snowboarding video. When this is done you’ll see the video in your sim’s inventory and you can hover over it to see the quality.
When you’re done on the slopes you can go to a computer and choose to upload this video. Your sim will start receiving royalties from this every day at 10 AM!
Gaining Snowboarding With Skill Classes
If you have The Sims 4: Discover University in your game your sims are able to take skill classes. You can take a sims 4 skiing skill class with a menu on your sim’s phone, or by going to the special buildings on either University campus.
