With the addition of Snowy Escape we were given the incredible ability to gain the sims 4 skiing skill.

This skill lets your sims have a great time on the mountain with their family, starting with the bunny slope and moving up as they gain the skill!

What is Skiing Good For?

Skiing is a great hobby for your sims to have. They can have fun, family adventures at the mountain and do other fun things like snowboarding and rock climbing!

Eventually your sims can even teach a skiing skill class where they can earn a good income!

How to Gain The Sims 4 Skiing Skill

The only thing you need to gain the skiing skill is skis! Thankfully you can start off on the bunny slope with loaner skis, but these can give your sim uncomfortable moodlets from being painful.

You can purchase better skis at the set of vending machines, specifically the bits ‘n bobbles one.

To get started skiing you’ll want to start on the bunny slope which is the smaller area next to the mountain. This is great for learning the sims 4 skiing skill in a low stakes environment. As you gain the skill you’ll unlock the ability to use the bigger slopes.

There are five slopes to choose from with difficulty increasing with each, which also increases the chance of failure:

  • Bunny Slope
  • Easy Slope
  • Intermediate Slope
  • Expert Slope
  • Ludicrous Slope

You can also gain this skill on your sim’s computer. You’ll go to web > research > research the art of skiing and your sim will get some of the skill through this.

Another way you can gain the skill is by purchasing and reading skill books, there are three to choose from:

  • Mastery of Skiing Vol 1: Balance and Taking Off
  • Mastery of Skiing Vol 2: Analyzing Paths and Stop Points
  • Mastery of Skiing Vol 3: Style and Finesse

With skill books you start with the first volume which you read until level 4. Then you move to the second volume from level 4 to seven and finish the skill with volume 3.

Ideal Mood for Skiing

Your sim’s emotions have a huge impact on their skill gains. That’s why you need to know what mood your sims should be in to gain each skill. When your sim is feeling confident they are going to gain the skiing skill more quickly than if they were feeling happy.

An easy way to get your sims confident is to brush your sim’s teeth at a sink or psych themselves up at a mirror!

Best Traits for Gaining Skiing

When you choose a sim’s traits you need to consider what you want them to do with their lives, the following traits are helpful for gaining the skiing skill:

  • Self-Assured: A sim who has the self-assured trait will get random confident moodlets that can help them gain the skiing skill more quickly
  • Loves The Outdoors: Of course, this trait is great! Skiing is an outdoor activity so having this trait will make sure they have a better time.

I usually like to chat about lot traits that can help you gain the skill quicker, but you don’t learn most of skiing in your home. However, there’s one trait that can help if you gain the skill through reading the skill books!

  • Peace and Quiet: This trait comes with The Sims 4: Jungle Adventure and will make your sims gain skills quicker when reading skill books

    • Unlocks at Level 3 of the Sims 4 Skiing Skill
    • “The best skis that Max has ever created! Every brand of ski Max tried to make afterwards was just a dissapointment. Either crucial ski features were missing, or sometimes it felt lik eyou were skiing on boxes of glass. Max really shot it out of the park with 3000.”
  • X2 Icebender Skis §410
    • Unlocks at Level 6 of the Skiing Skill
    • “The Icebenders from X2 are sleek and sparkly, but zoom down mountains at light speed thanks to the carbonic-infused nitrolaces. Don’t know what that is? It’s okay! Just know… these skis were made for speed.

    • Unlocks at Level 10 of the Sims 4 Skiing Skill
