There are some weird skills in the game and the sims 4 mischief skill is one of them.
This skill lets your sims do thinks like pranks, calling out of work and lots of other stuff too!
What is Mischief Good For?
The mischief skill is great for sims who are mean and need those types of interactions to stay happy. You’ll also need this skill if your sim has the secret agent career!
How to Gain The Mischief Skill
There are a few ways your sims can earn this skill with the first being the skill books. You can purchase these books from any bookcase and there are three for mischief you can buy:
- Mischief Vol 1: What’s Funny, What’s Illegal?
- Mischief Vol 2: What’s Illegal, What’s Frowned Upon?
- Mischief Vol 3: The Long Con
You’ll start with volume one and move up as your sim gains the skill. You can max out the skill just by working through the books but that’s no fun!
The best way to gain the skill is to get out there and be mischievous. You’ll want to do interactions including:
- Slap ‘Em Silly
- Trolling teh forums
- Using a Voodoo Doll
- Convince Sims to Streak
You’ll essentially just be a menace to society to gain this skill!
Best Mood to Practice Mischief
Our sims have a lot of emotions and each skill has an ideal emotion that you’ll want to have to gain skills more quickly. The best emotion for mischief is playful which will boost gains of the skill.
There are a couple ways you can get your sims to feel playful including taking a bubble bath and watching comedy TV.
Best Traits for Mischievous Sims
If you have a plan for your sim’s life you need to think about what traits you give your sims because they can have an impact on their mood and skill gains. These traits can be super helpful for the mischief skill:
- Goofball: Sims who have the goofball trait are going to get random playful moodlets that can boost skill gains.
- Mean: A sim with the mean trait are going to sometimes get happy moodlets when doing mischief interactions.
- Cringe: This trait comes with The Sims 4: For Rent and is a fun one, this trait has sims having an enthusiasm for life that gives a playful emotion often.
You should also consider adding lot traits to your sim’s house, a good one for mischief is:
- Convivial: This trait helps sims gain charisma, mischief and comedy more quickly.
How to Cheat The Mischief Skill
If you need the mischief skill for a career or a super sim but don’t want to mean to sims maybe you want to cheat it instead. You just need to know stats.set_skill_level Major_Mischief 10 to max out the skill.
If you want a different level of this skill you’ll want to change up the number at the end. For example, stats.set_skill_level Major_Mischief 8 would give your sim 8 levels of the skill.

| Level 3 | Your sim can now ask due date on sims who aren’t pregnant and dare sims to streak. They can now kick over trash cans, make prank phone calls, stomp in puddles, and purchase voodoo dolls on the computer. |
| Level 4 | Your sim can now share conspiracy theories with other sims. They can also use a computer to send chain letters or an observatory to spy on neighbors. They can also become partners in crime with other sims. |
| Level 5 | Your sim can now perform noxious cloud on other sims. They can also clog drain on sinks and tubs. They can mentor others in mischief. |
| Level 6 | Your sim can now use the phone to play hooky. |
| Level 7 | Your sim can now describe apocalypse to other sims. |
| Level 8 | Your sim can now use a computer to send spam money request and can stuff fruit in exhaust port of a rocket ship. |
| Level 9 | Your sim can now perform Slap ‘Em Silly on other sims. |
| Level 10 | Your sim can now perform air horn on other sims. |
Benefits of Gaining This Skill
There are fun benefits to gaining every single skill in the game, including mischief. These three benefits are my favourites!
1. Voodoo Dolls
The best part about having the mischief skill is voodoo dolls! These little dolls are hilarious and evil and let your sims do things to other sims.
This doll can be purchased from a computer for ยง950 but you also have the opportunity to find this if you’re searching rocks or dirt spots. Once you have one you can bind the voodoo doll to a specific sim that your sim interacts with.
You’ll get the option to do so many interactions with this doll including:
- Poke: Gives the sim an angry moodlet which you can use to make a sim enraged for death
- Tickle: Gives the sim an uncomfortable moodlet
- Soak: Gives the sim a dazed moodlet after dropping water on their head
- Cuddle: Gives this sim a flirty moodlet so you can romance them easier
2. Scamming Others for Money
When a sim reaches level 8 of the mischief skill they are going to gain the ability to send spam money requests on the computer.
This is a funny interaction that will give your sim some free money but doesn’t work every time, your sim can get a negative moodlet if it fails.
Your sim picks a specific sim to try and scam so you may lose some of your relationship with sims if this doesn’t work in your sims’ favour.
3. Playing Hooky
Everyone needs a day off from time to time but if your sim just decides not to show up it can effect their performance. Well, when a sim reaches level six of the mischief skill they can use their phone to play hooky.
This allows your sims to stay home from school or work without having any impact on their performance.
