If you want smart sims, they need to have the sims 4 logic skill.
This skill has been in the game since the start and is great for learning about the world in a new way!
What is Logic Good For?
Logic is great for sims who love to play games, want to look at science related things like fossil samples and more.
Logic is also needed for so many careers in the game including:
- Business
- Secret Agent
- Education (Discover University)
- Law (Discover University)
- Civil Designer (Eco Lifestyle)
- Salaryperson (Snowy Escape)
How to Gain The Logic Skill
There are a bunch of ways that you can gain the logic skill. The first way is through reading skill books that you can purchase from bookcases in your sim’s home. There are three logic books:
- Logic Vol 1: An Introduction to Reason
- Logic Vol 2: The Reason to Reason
- Logic Vol 3: The Problem With Paradoxes
Reading these logic books is a boring way to gain the skill but is super easy. You’ll start with the first book until your sim no longer gains the skill and then you’ll move on to the next book.
The next way you can gain the logic skill is through playing chess either by yourself or with another sim. This is easy and most sims will find this fun and fill that need too!
The next way you can gain logic is by looking at the sky with the telescope or observatory. You’ll find this in the activities and skill section of the buy menu!
The options you get depend on the time of day, like observe the sky which only appears during sunlight, but all of these will gain you the logic skill.
The next way you can gain this skill is by using the microscope which you can find in activities and skills in the build menu.
You are able to just click on the microscope and choose use and your sim will sit there and gain the skill for a while.
You can also collect microscope samples on plants (and eventually crystals and fossils as you gain the skill) and analyze those samples on this machine to get microscope prints to decorate your home with!
Best Mood to Practice Logic
There are tons of emotions in The Sims 4 from happy to scared and each skill has an emotion connected to it that will make your sims gain the skill more quickly. The best emotion for the logic skill is focused.
There are a few ways you can get more focused in the game including using a microscope, adding mathematical diagrams to your sim’s house and pondering moves on a chess board.
Best Traits for Logical Sims
The traits you give your sims can have a huge impact on their personality and how quickly they can gain skills. There are a few traits to give a sim if you want them to gain the logic skill more quickly.
- Genius: Sims that have the genius trait are going to get random focused moodlets from time to time which will help with logic skill gains.
- Cheerful: A cheerful sim is great because they get happy moodlets which can make the focused ones stronger since your sim is in a good mood.
- Practice Makes Perfect: This trait makes sims get skills slightly quicker but will start out slower.
You should also consider the lot traits you give your sims. There are some that are good for gaining logic:
- Science Lair: This trait will improve the rate at which your sim can gain logic.
- Study Spot: This lot trait comes with Discover University and gives you skill gain improvements to all skills.
How to Cheat The Logic Skill
If you don’t feel like having your sim play chess for hours and hours you have the option to just cheat the skill. The cheat you need to know is stats.set_skill_level Major_Logic 10 to max out the skill.
If you want a different level of the skill you can change the 10 at the end to whatever level you want, for example, using stats.set_skill_level Major_Logic 9 would give you level 9 of the skill.

| Level 8 | Your sim can now collect crystal samples and analyze them under a microscope. They can also provide logical solutions to stressed sims. |
| Level 9 | Your sim now gets an even better moodlet from chess and card game victories. |
| Level 10 | Your sim can now use the rant logically interaction to reduce their anger. |
Mathematical Diagrams
Did you know that some decor items can change the mood your sim is in? The mathematical diagram is something a sim can paint when they are feeling focused at any easel.
When completed if you place it on a wall you can enable its emotional aura and sims around this will get a focused moodlet. This is great for hanging above a chess table or microscope!
Logical Collection
With the microscope you are able to work on the microscope prints collection which can be a fun goal. To do this you first need to find the appropriate item and then click and choose collect microscope sample.
This will place a slide in your sim’s inventory and you’ll go to the microscope and choose to analyze that sample. If your analysis goes well your sim will get a microscopic print in their inventory that you can use as decor or turn on the emotion aura for moodlets!
You are able to do this for three categories: plants, fossils and crystals!
Sims 4 Logic Skill Mentorship
When a sim is able to max the logic skill they can actually mentor others. This will help the other sim gain the skill more quickly. You can do this by clicking on a chess board and choosing the mentoring options, you can also do this on the microscope!
If you have The Sims 4: Business & Hobbies installed in your game you can also mentor others for money. You’ll earn 430 simoleons per hour if our sim has a maxed out skill!
Upgrading Your Logic Tools
There are huge upgrades you can make with the handiness skill to both the Microscope and Observatory and these make using these items so much better.
The observatory has two upgrades you can make:
- Augment Telescope Eyepiece: Increases your chance for succcess when using the telescope
- Requires 2 Common Upgrade Parts
- Reinforce Telescopic Pivots: Reduces how often the telescope will break
- Requires 2 Common Upgrade Parts
The microscope has three upgrades you can make:
- Perfect Inner Workings: Makes it so the microscope never breaks
- Requires 2 Common Upgrade Parts
- Improve Lens Quality: Upgrading to the 4000X Achromatic lens will increase your chance for success when using the microscope
- Requires 2 Common Upgrade Parts
- Robustify Inner Workings: Reduces likelihood of it breaking
- Requires 2 Common Upgrade Parts
Adding Gameplay With Other Packs
Discover University
There are actually three ways your sims are able to start gaining the sims 4 logic skill which is awesome. The first way is to take a skill class for ยง250 at one of two buildings, one on each campus. These are great if you have large households and just want a sim to be gone and productive for a while!
The next way you can gain this skill is by taking a logic class as an elective when getting a degree. The class you’re looking for is called Chess Mix: Board Logic and your sim will gain this skill any time they are in class.
The final way you can gain this is by using the research archive machine and choosing the logic vs instinct option. This is great because your sim will gain the research and debate skill at the same time!
