How to Get a Sim ID in The Sims 4

There are some cheats for The Sims 4 that require you to get a sim’s sim ID first to be able to use them.

A Sim ID is an 18 digit number that applies to a specific sim and it’s super easy to know your sim’s number.

How to Get a Sim ID

The first thing you’ll need to do to get a sim’s ID is enable cheats by opening the cheat box and typing in testingcheats true and hitting enter. To open the box you’ll use the following commands:

PC: Ctrl + Shift + C
Mac: Command + Shift + C
Console: All Four Triggers

You’ll then use the cheat code sims.get_sim_id_by_name {First Name} {Last Name} to get a sim’s sim ID. Let’s say we want to get Bella Goth’s sim ID, you’d use sims.get_sim_id_by_name Bella Goth to do it.

The game will pop open the cheat box and give you a message that says has sim id and then the number. Unfortunately, this number isn’t copyable so you’ll need to either write it down or type it into a browser or something.

This works for sims as well as animals like cats, dogs and horses. You’ll need to do this to cheat horse skills!
