How to Get Death by Broken Heart in The Sims 4
We’ve all had a broken heart in our lives but in the sims you can experience the sims 4 death by broken heart.
This ability comes with The Sims 4: Lovestruck and requires you to have a sim have a really bad time in their romantic life.
How to Get Death by Broken Heart in The Sims 4
There are actually two ways a sim can have a death by broken heart, the first way is just having a terrible time with romance back to back to back. This is something you’ll probably never experience by accident unless you want to ruin the sim’s life.
The easiest way to do this is to send your sim on a bunch of dates back to back (blind dates on Cupid’s Corner make this easy) and make sure that all of the dates end poorly. Do interactions that are unpleasant, don’t finish any of the goals, and have your sim leave in a bad mood from the date.
You’ll need to do a lot of interactions and dates until you get a specific notification. It will say “Your sim is feeling the negative effects of love and is truly suffering. Something is approaching…”

You’ll also at this time get a +1 Sad Moodlet called Sorrow that says “Your sim is near tears, romance should never feel like this.”

If you continue to have a sim do romantic interactions that fail you’ll move to another stage of the broken heart. You’ll get a bright orange notification that gives you more information. This says “Your sim has experienced a lot of turmoil in their romantic life; if they don’t take safety measures, this could result in their death by a broken heart. Until this sad mood passes, stay away from rejection, jealousy, horrible dates, depressed eating, and bad breakups.”

Your sim will also have their sad moodlet change to a +2 Sad Moodlet called Misery that lasts 2 days. If you have the sim fail at romance in these two days they’ll die from a broken heart.

When it happens you’ll get that purple notification saying your sim died from a broken heart and the sim will cry, fall to the floor and wait for The Grim Reaper.

The second way you can do it is if your sim chokes on a sweetheart’s box. You’ll need to also get your sim to that Misery moodlet from bad romantic interactions. You’ll also need to have a sweetheart’s box that you can purchase on a computer or in the shopping menu on your sim’s computer.

The sweetheart’s box will go into your sim’s inventory and you’ll click on it and choose devour to get over heartbreak. If your sim has other strong moodlets taking over the sad ones, you’ll need to wait for those to go away (or cheat them with something like UI Cheats)

I had to get my sim to eat eight boxes to get this to happen, but my sim choked on the chocolates eventually. It makes sense, a sim eats too many chocolates and them forgets how to eat and dies.

Broken Heart Ghost
These ghosts have one of my favourite visual effects. They have a broken heart inside of their chest and you can watch it crumble over and over which feels so sad.

These ghosts also have the death by broken heart trait that says “This sim experienced the chaos that love can bring and died from a broken heart.”
