The Sims 4 Flower Arranging Skill Guide
Having fresh flowers around your home is pretty much guaranteed to make someone happy.
Like, c’mon, it just brings in the vibes and makes everything so pretty.
Should your sims get that experience too? And they can! With the flower arranging skill that comes with The Sims 4: Seasons!
What is Flower Arranging Good For?
There are so many uses for this skill, you really wouldn’t think that.
First of all, fresh flowers to decorate with that can have an impact on your sim’s mood if you scent them.
Second, requirement for the Floral Designer branch of the gardener career.
Third, arrangements can be sold for big bucks as you get a high skill which is awesome. Finally, you can actually have your sims end the lives of old people with this skill, so it’s one of the best.
How to Gain The Flower Arranging Skill
The first way you can start gaining the skill is by reading these flower arranging books that you can purchase from any bookcase. You’ll find three volumes of the book to purchase:
- Flower Arranging Vol 1: What is a Flower
- Flower Arranging Vol 2: Arranging for Artistry
- Flower Arranging Vol 3: Blooming Beauty
You’ll want to read the first book until level 4, then move on until level 7, then read the third book to finish the skill. If you don’t want to read you can get the skill through actually arranging flowers.
To do this you’ll need to get your sim the Violets Are Blue Flower Arranging Table from the activities section of the build catalog.
Once you have this table you’ll want to click on it and choose make arrangement. When you do that this wild menu with so many options opens, you can choose all to see every flower arrangement you can make or sort by the types of flower you want to use.
Once your sim is done making their arrangement you can scent it, add a vase, take photos, or sell it. You’ll start by earning a small amount of money but that’ll grow with time.
The amount of money your sim earns increases with skill, quality, and type of flower used! To keep gaining the skill just keep making beautiful flower arrangements.
Best Mood for Flower Arranging
The emotion system actually has a huge impact on your sims skill gains. You’ll need to know which mood is best for each skill because your sims gain the skills more quickly when they have certain moods.
The ideal mood for flower arranging is inspired which makes sense, because it’s a creative skill! To get your sim feeling inspired easily you can go take a thoughtful shower.
Ideal Traits for Flower Arranging
The traits you give your sims are so important because they can heavily impact your sim’s mood when they are gaining skill and doing activities.
- Creative: Sims with the creative skill can get random inspired moodlets which will help your sim gain the skill more quickly.
- Loves The Outdoors: Since you’ll want to grow your own flowers to save money, you’ll be spending a decent amount of time outside and this trait can help your sim enjoy it.
- Perfectionist: The perfectionist traits makes sims take slightly longer to finish tasks like flower arranging, however, they will produce high quality arrangements that you can sell for more money.
How to Cheat Flower Arranging
If you want to be good at flower arranging without too much effort, you have the option to cheat the skill instead. The cheat you need to know is stats.set_skill_level major_flowerarranging 10 to max the skill.
If you want a different level of the skill, you’ll just change the 10 at the end to any number from 1-9.
Levels of the Flower Arranging Skill
There are ten levels of the flower arranging skill to earn in the game. As you increase your sim’s flower arranging skill you’ll see them get new stuff like being able to make arrangements with new flowers and getting to mentor others!

Mentoring Flower Arranging
At level five of the flower arranging skill your sim is going to unlock the ability to start mentoring other sims in flower arranging. The sim that you’re mentoring will get the skill faster if they are being mentored than they ever would alone.
If you have The Sims 4: Business & Hobbies you even have the option to offer paid mentoring which if you max the skill can earn you 430 simoleons per hour.
Growing Your Own Flowers
If you want to make the most money by selling your flower arrangements you’re going to want to grow your own flowers. This is going to require the gardening skill for your sim.
Since this skill comes with seasons, you’ll have the annoying aspect of needing to have seasonal plants if you grow them outdoors. The best way to combat this is to create an indoor area where you can grow plants using any of the pots you can purchase.
This lets you grow any plant, at any time. It’s super cute to create a little green house on your sim’s lot where you can grow these plants, especially the more rare ones. And you can still have a large flower farm on your lot where you grow the other plants that are easier to get.
Scenting Your Arrangements
Starting at level three of the skill your sims can start using flowers to scent their arrangements. This is going to give interesting interactions with the different arrangements depending on the type of flower you scent with.
Scenting With Regular Flowers
There are nine regular flowers that you can scent with, these pretty much just give moodlets, nothing too cool.
- Bluebell
- Scenting with a bluebell will slow down the rotting process on your flower arrangements so they stay fresh for longer
- Chrysanthemum
- Gives your sim a +2 happy moodlet that lasts two hours
- Crocus
- Weirdly, this one has an effect on bees. It will help to calm the bees if it’s close enough to the bee hive.
- Dahlia
- Doing the weep from beauty interaction will give your sims a +3 sad moodlet that lasts a few hours
- Daisy
- Doing the joy and sunshine interaction on the arrangement gives your sims a +2 happy moodlet for two hours called joy and sunshine
- Rose
- Doing the fill with passion interaction gives your sim a +2 flirty moodlet called floral passion
- Snapdragon
- Doing any of the interactions that appear after scenting will give your sim a +2 angry moodlet
- Snowdrop
- Doing the watch wisps interaction will give your sims a +2 inspired moodlet called wisp watcher
- Tulip
- Gives your sims a +2 happy moodlet
Scenting With Rare Flowers
There are six rare flowers that you can use to scent the flowers. Each of them will have a different effect on your sim and there’s even some that can be deadly!
- Begonia
- If you make this one and give it to another sim as a gift you’ll find that the sim you give it to feels weird. They’ll get a dazed moodlet that lasts a whole day.
- Birds of Paradise
- Doing the be magnificent interaction will give your sim a +2 confident moodlet that says magnificent confidence
- Christmas Rose
- Doing the feeling drowsy interaction will immediately send your sim to bed. My sim got a +10,000 sleep moodlet and took a very long nap, I cancelled the interaction because it was taking too long.
- Death Flower
- This one is the one you have to look out for. If you scent with a death flower and give the arrangement as a gift the recipient will move onto the next stage of life. A teen would become a young adult, for example.
- Giving this to an elder will… move them onto their next life stage and Grim will make a visit!
- Lily
- Doing the creative skill inspiration interaction will give your sim a +2 inspired moodlet.
- Orchid
- Doing the inhale life essence interaction will move your sim’s lifespan back a few days letting them live longer. Do this often enough and your sim can be immortal.
Flower Arranging Death
I know we just talked about this in the scenting flowers section, but honestly, this is so fun it deserves its own section! If you manage to get your hands on a death flower and use it to scent any flower arrangement it can have interesting effects.
Giving this to any sim will increase their age by one life stage. This means a teen would become a young adult, a young adult would become an adult, etc.
However, elders have no where to go, so giving this to an elder will cause the end of their life!
Adding Other Packs To Flower Arranging
There are certain skills that get better when you add in other packs and flower arranging is one of them. There are a few packs that add additional gameplay to this!
Using Market Tables
There are a few packs that include a market table that you can use to have a yard sale and sell flower arrangements. This is nice because it makes it feel more realistic than just selling from your inventory. You’ll find these tables in packs like city living, eco lifestyle and business and hobbies and more.
All you need to do is add the flower arrangements to the table’s inventory then do all the interactions. You’ll want to stock the table, then start a yard sale and choose to tend the table.
If no one is buying you can give sims a sales pitch and they’ll be a little more likely to purchase.
Selling Flower Arrangements on Plopsy
If you have The Sims 4: Nifty Knitting in your game you have the option to list your flower arrangements on Plopsy to sell them online. Once you complete a flower arrangement you can click on it and choose to list on plopsy.
You’ll see the item in your sim’s inventory with a pink background when it’s listed and it’ll change to blue when someone’s interested in purchasing.
You will get notifications when someone wants to buy it.You can click on the item in your sim’s inventory to ship on plopsy and it’ll get sold.
My original flower arrangement would’ve sold without plopsy for 1087 but selling it on plospy made me 3628!
