How to get a Cowplant Berry in The Sims 4

Cowplants are iconic in the game and you need to find a sims 4 cowplant berry to be able to have one.

These are actually easy to find, if you know where to look or what to do!

How to get a Cowplant Berry in The Sims 4

There are three main ways you can get your hands on a cowplant berry in the game. Your sim can graft items together to create one, you can get one in rare seed packets or you can have your sim go fishing to get one.

Grafting Plants Together

Grafting is a really good way to get the more rare plants like a dragon fruit or a death flower and cowplant berries can be grafted together too. You’ll need to have your sim reach level five of the gardening skill to unlock the ability to start grafting.

To graft for a cowplant berry you’ll need to start with a snapdragon flower as well as a dragon fruit. To get a sim a snapdragon plant you can harvest one in most neighbourhoods but you can also purchase a starter flowers seed pack to find one.

Dragon fruit can be found in rare seed packets or you can graft together a strawberry and a snapdragon flower to get one.

Once you have both plants grown you’ll click on one and choose take cutting. This will place a spliced garden shoot in your sim’s inventory. Then, you go to the other plant and click on it and choose graft and a menu will open where you’ll choose that garden shoot.

The result will be a plant that will grow dragon fruit, snapdragons and cowplant berries. You’ll be able to harvest all three of these from one single plant which is awesome if you have a small lot but want these items consistently.

Rare Seed Packets

The easiest way to get a cowplant berry is to purchase rare seed packets. These packs unlock at level 10 of the gardening skill so you’ll need to get there first.

You’re able to purchase these on a computer under the order menu as well as by clicking on a garden pot or garden planter. Plus, you can find them in build mode!

Once you have them in your sim’s inventory you can click on them and choose open seed packet and you’ll get things like a dragon fruit or a death flower or even magic beans. You may need to purchase a lot of these because you only get a couple things per pack, and they cost 1,000 simoleons per each.

Catching One When Fishing

The final way you can get cowplant berries is by having your sim catch one when fishing. There are certain places where you can catch them and you won’t find them in others, so it won’t happen every time.

A great place to do this is the very back of Desert Bloom Park in Oasis Springs. You’ll see a small body of water at the very back surrounded by plants and rocks! It’s the most consistent way to catch a cowplant berry in my experience.

Planting Your Cowplant Berry

You can take your cowplant berry and drag it onto the ground and click on it and choose plant. This will turn it into a plant that’s a little different than other plants in the game. Why? Well… this one comes alive!

When the cowplant is fully grown you’ll be able to give it a name, feed it and pet and play with it to keep it happy.

Beware of Death

One thing you need to be aware of when it comes to cowplants is being eaten! After 12 hours of not being fed, a cowplant will have a piece of cake come out of their mouth. If you click on it and choose eat cake your sim will get swallowed!

The first time your sim does this, they won’t die. They’ll thankfully get spit out and you can milk the cowplant and get their essence as a drink that will give the sim who drinks it the same mood the sim had when they were swallowed.

If your sim eats the cake again you’ll have the sim pass away from being eaten by the cowplant. So, if you want to avoid death, make sure to feed your cowplants often so sims don’t accidentally get swallowed.
